Walter Cook Victoria Cross, VC (18 June 1834 – c. 1864) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth forces. He was about 25 years old, and a private (rank), private in the 42nd Regiment of Foot, 42nd Regiment (later The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders), British Army during the Indian Mutiny when the following deed took place on 15 January 1859 at Maylah Ghat, India for which he and Private Duncan Millar were awarded the VC: The pipe tune ''Lawson's Men'' was written about the incident. Walter Cook (architect)
Babb, Cook & Willard was a New York City-based architectural firm established in 1884 that designed many important houses and commercial buildings. The principals of the firm were George Fletcher Babb (1836–1915), Walter Cook (1843–1916), and Daniel W. Willard. Willard left the firm in 1908, and was replaced by Winthrop A. Welch. The firm was subsequently renamed Babb, Cook and Welch until 1912, when it became Cook and Welch. Walter Cook Partner Walter Cook was born in New York and graduated from Harvard College in 1869. He further studied at the Royal Polytechnic School in Munich and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He returned to New York in 1877 and worked there as an architect until he died on March 25, 1916, aged 70. Walter Cook (footballer)
Walter Charles Cook (1 July 1894 – 1973) was an English professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper in the Football League for Plymouth Argyle, Brighton & Hove Albion and Stockport County. He was on the books of Leeds City before the League resumed after the First World War, and played non-league football for Castleford Town and Harrogate. Life and career Walter Charles Cook was born to Joseph and Ellen Cook in Midsomer Norton, Somerset, on 1 July 1894. He had blue eyes and brown hair. By 1901, the family had moved to Castleford, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, where Joseph was working as a coal miner. The 1911 Census records the 16-year-old Cook employed as a pony driver underground. He enlisted in the Cameronians in 1915, served in France, and was discharged in 1917 as physically unfit for military service. Walter William Spencer Cook
Walter William Spencer Cook, also known as Walter W. S. Cook in citation (7 April 1888 – 20 September 1962) was an American art historian and professor. He specialized in Spanish Medieval art history. He was an emeritus professor from New York University (working from 1926–1956) and he helped found the New York University Institute of Fine Arts. He had a prominent role in introducing eminent German art historians to the United States. Early life and education Walter William Spencer Cook was born on 7 April 1888 in Orange, Massachusetts, to parents Jan Macreal and William Jeremiah Cook. He attended Phillips Exeter Academy for high school, followed by studies at Harvard University. He received his B.A. degree in 1913, and M.A. degree in 1915 from Harvard and after he was a teaching assistant in the Fine Arts Department.
