Walter C. Sweeney, Jr.
General Walter Campbell Sweeney Jr. (July 23, 1909 – December 22, 1965) was a United States Air Force four-star general who served as commander of the U.S. Air Force Tactical Air Command. Biography A native of Wheeling, West Virginia, he was born in 1909. Wheeling, West Virginia
Wheeling is a city in the U.S. state of West Virginia. Located almost entirely in Ohio County, of which it is the county seat, it lies along the Ohio River in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and also contains a tiny portion extending into Marshall County. The 73d Air Division is an inactive United States Air Force unit. Its last assignment was with Air Defense Command at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, where it was inactivated on 1 April 1966.
