Walter B. Rountree
Walter Boyce "Red" Rountree (May 31, 1903 – April, 1980) was a physician in Birmingham, Alabama. Rountree played college football and was a prominent halfback for coach Dan McGugin's Vanderbilt Commodores football team from 1920 to 1923. In 1922, Rountree played quarterback in the game against Mercer and was the star. Hartselle, Alabama
Hartselle is the second largest city in Morgan County, Alabama, United States, south of Decatur. It is part of the Decatur Metropolitan Area and the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 15,455. Hartselle was founded in 1869 with the arrival of the South and North Alabama Railroad. It takes its name from George Hartselle, one of the railroad's owners. The post office opened in 1873. It was formally incorporated on March 1, 1875. Most of the oldest buildings were destroyed by a disastrous fire in 1916. Geography Hartselle is located in western Morgan County at (34.440383, -86.940385). 1922 Vanderbilt Commodores Football Team
The 1922 Vanderbilt Commodores football team represented Vanderbilt University during the 1922 Southern Conference football season. During the season, Dan McGugin's 18th as head coach, Vanderbilt compiled a record of 8–0–1 (5–0 in conference games) and outscored its opponents 177 to 16. The Commodores' defense was unrivaled in the South, leading the nation in giving up just 1.8 points per game, none of them at home. The season included a tie with Michigan at the dedication of the new Dudley Field; the first stadium in the South to be used exclusively for college football. The 1923 Tennessee Volunteers football team (variously "Tennessee", "UT" or the "Vols") represented the University of Tennessee in the 1923 college football season. Playing as a member of the Southern Conference (SoCon), the team was led by head coach M. B. Banks, in his third year, and played their home games at Shields–Watkins Field in Knoxville, Tennessee.
