Wally Gould
Walter Gould (25 September 1938 – 10 March 2018) was an English professional footballer who played as a right winger in the Football League for Sheffield United, York City and Brighton & Hove Albion. He later played for Durban United and Hellenic in South Africa. Gould arrived on the Stoke City coaching staff at the start of the 1977–78 season to team up with George Eastham who had become manager. He was reserve-team coach when Cyril Lea resigned in New Year 1980. Gould then stepped up to be number two to Alan Durban. He subsequently served Richie Barker when he became manager, but left in March 1982. There were rumoured to be differences between Gould and some of the senior players at this time, with one `training ground incident` resulting in Ray Evans, the captain, being suspended for two weeks. Thrybergh
Thrybergh is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham in South Yorkshire, England, from Rotherham. It had a population of 4,327 in 2001, reducing to 4,058 at the 2011 Census. History Thrybergh – which is mentioned in the Domesday Book – was given to William de Perci, a chief aide to William the Conqueror and founder of the well-known Percy family, after the Norman conquest of England in 1066. The Football League Fourth Division was the fourth-highest division in the English football league system from the 1958–59 season until the creation of the Premier League prior to the 1992–93 season. Whilst the division disappeared in name in 1992, the 4th tier of English football continued as the Football League Third Division, and later became known as Football League Two. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. Bill Asprey
William Asprey (born 11 September 1936) is an English former football player and manager. A defender, he made 418 league appearances in a 15-year career in the Football League. He then had a 25-year career as a coach. He spent 1953 to 1965 at Stoke City, making 341 appearances in all competitions. He helped the "Potters" to the Second Division title in 1962–63, and also played in the 1964 League Cup final. He spent 1965 to December 1967 at Oldham Athletic, before he was sold to Port Vale for a £2,000 fee. He left the "Valiants" in December 1968 to become a full-time coach. He coached at various clubs across the world, as well as the national teams of Rhodesia and Syria, but was given his first chance as a manager in England at Oxford United in July 1979. He was not overly successful, and was sacked in December 1980. Raymond Leslie "Ray" Evans (born 20 September 1949) is an English former footballer who played in the position of full back in England and the United States. He played for Tottenham Hotspur, Millwall, Fulham and Stoke City. Career Evans was born in Edmonton, London and joined Tottenham Hotspur as an apprentice in May 1965, and signed as a full professional in 1967, making his league debut in March 1969 at Arsenal. Richie Barker (footballer, Born 1939)
Richie Joseph Barker (23 November 1939 – 11 October 2020) was an English footballer and manager who played in the Football League for Derby County, Notts County and Peterborough United. He was also manager of Shrewsbury Town, Stoke City, Notts County, Ethnikos Piraeus (Greece), Zamalek (Egypt) and West Bromwich Albion. Playing career Barker was born in Loughborough and began his career with non-league Burton Albion in 1960. In the summer of 1965 he played abroad in the Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League with Hamilton Primos. He spent seven years with the "Brewers" and scored a club record 159 goals before joining Derby County in 1967 as one of Brian Clough's first signings.
