Wallis And Futuna's Constituency
The constituency of Wallis and Futuna is a French legislative constituency covering the whole of the overseas collectivity of Wallis and Futuna. It is represented in the XVIth legislature by Mikaele Seo of Renaissance who defeated fellow centrist Etuato Mulikihaamea in the 2022 election. Only the first round of the election was required. 2017 Napole Polutele obtained sufficient votes to be elected in the first round. Wallis And Futuna
Wallis and Futuna, officially the Territory of the Wallis and Futuna Islands (; french: Wallis-et-Futuna or ', Fakauvea and Fakafutuna: '), is a French island collectivity in the South Pacific, situated between Tuvalu to the northwest, Fiji to the southwest, Tonga to the southeast, Samoa to the east, and Tokelau to the northeast. ''Outre-Mer: A Pilgrimage Beyond the Sea'' is a prose collection by American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. It was the first major work by Longfellow and it was inspired by his travels in Europe as a young man. The term "outre-mer" is French for "overseas". Overview In preparation for his employment as a professor of language at his alma mater Bowdoin College, Longfellow traveled to Europe. His stay there may have inspired ''Outre-Mer''. It is his first published literary work after previously publishing academic texts. Sylvain Brial
Sylvain Jacques Brial (born 16 September 1964) is a Wallisian politician and former member of the French National Assembly. Brial is from a prominent political family. His grandmother was Aloisia Brial, ''Lavelua'' (queen) of Uvéa from 1954 to 1958, and his father is politician Cyprien Brial, who served in the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna from 1967 to 1987. His brothers are former territorial councilor Julien Brial and former MP Victor Brial. His uncle Benjamin Brial was also a member of the National Assembly, while his cousin Gil Brial is involved in the politics of New Caledonia. He works as a building contractor. 2018 Wallis And Futuna's 1st Constituency By-election
A by-election was held in Wallis and Futuna's 1st constituency on 15 April 2018. The by-election was called after the Constitutional Council invalidated the election of Napole Polutele, miscellaneous left candidate in the June 2017 legislative elections and member of the UDI, Agir and Independents group in the National Assembly, on 2 February 2018. 2017 French Legislative Election
Legislative elections in France were held on 11 and 18 June 2017 (with different dates for voters overseas) to elect the 577 members of the 15th National Assembly of the Fifth Republic. David Vergé (born 10 January 1972) is a Wallisian politician. He represented Wallis and Futuna in the French National Assembly from 2012 to 2013 and was president of the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna from 2017 to 2019. Vergé was born in La Fère in France and is a businessman. He was first elected to the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna in the constituency of Hahake in the 2012 Wallis and Futuna Territorial Assembly election.
