Wallachian Plain
The Romanian Plain ( ro, Câmpia Română) is located in southern Romania and the easternmost tip of Serbia, where it is known as the Wallachian Plain ( sr, Vlaška nizija/Влашка низија). Part of the historical region of Wallachia, it is bordered by the Danube River in the east, south and west, and by the in the north. Bucharest, the capital of Romania, is located in the central part of the Romanian Plain. It is contiguous to the south with the Danubian Plain ( bg, Дунавска равнина), in Bulgaria. Pitești Plain
Pitești () is a city in Romania, located on the river Argeș. The capital and largest city of Argeș County, it is an important commercial and industrial center, as well as the home of two universities. Pitești is situated in the historical region of Muntenia. It lies on the A1 freeway connecting the city directly to the national capital Bucharest, being an important railway junction, with a classification yard in nearby Bălilești. Mostiștea Plain
The Mostiștea is a left tributary of the river Danube in Romania. It flows through the artificial Lake Mostiștea. Its source is near the village Dascălu, northeast of Bucharest. It flows into the Danube near Mânăstirea. Its length is and its basin size is . The river (and its tributaries) is formed mainly by lakes (''bălți'' in Romanian), because of human intervention, that flow one into another, until they reach Mânăstirea. There, it forms the largest lake on the river, lake Mostiștea, and it is dammed. After the dam, the river flows towards the Danube artificially channeled, for about 10 km (6 miles), through Canalul Dorobanțu (Dorobanțu Channel). Bărăgan Plain
The Bărăgan Plain ( ro, Câmpia Bărăganului ) is a steppe plain in south-eastern Romania. It makes up much of the eastern part of the Wallachian Plain. The region is known for its black soil and a rich humus, and is mostly a cereal-growing area. It is bounded on the south and east by the Danube, and in the North by the Buzău and Călmățui rivers, both tributaries of the Danube. The western limit is a line joining the cities of Buzău, Urziceni, Budești, and Oltenița. The plain practically covers Ialomița and Călărași counties, extending into the southern portion of Buzău and Brăila counties. The city of Bucharest is not part of Bărăgan but is on the Vlăsiei Plain.
