Wallace Young
Wallace "Wally" Young MHA, is a Canadian politician in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. He represented the district of St. Barbe in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party from 2001 until 2011. Young was elected in a 2001 by-election and re-elected in the 2003 and 2007 provincial elections. Young was defeated in the 2011 provincial election by former Liberal leader Jim Bennett. Young served as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development from November 27, 2009 until September 19, 2011. 2011 Newfoundland And Labrador General Election
The 2011 Newfoundland and Labrador general election took place on October 11, 2011, to elect members of the 47th General Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Progressive Conservative Party (PC Party) formed a majority government in the 2007 election, with the Liberal Party serving as the Official Opposition and the New Democratic Party (NDP) serving as a third party. Under amendments passed by the Legislature in 2004, elections in Newfoundland and Labrador are now held on fixed dates: the second Tuesday in October every four years. The 2003 Newfoundland and Labrador general election was held on October 21, 2003, to elect the 48 members of the 45th General Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador. The election was called on September 29 by Premier Roger Grimes of the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador.
