Walking Happy
''Walking Happy'' is a musical with music by Jimmy Van Heusen, lyrics by Sammy Cahn and book by Roger O. Hirson and Ketti Frings. The story is based on the 1916 play ''Hobson's Choice'' by Harold Brighouse. The musical was nominated for six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The title song "Walking Happy" was originally meant to be used in the 1963 film ''Papa's Delicate Condition'', with Jackie Gleason singing it, but it was dropped before the film's release. Production history The production opened on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on November 26, 1966 and ran for 161 performances. Directed by Cy Feuer with choreography by Danny Daniels, the cast included George Rose as Henry Hobson, Norman Wisdom as Will Mossop, Louise Troy as Maggie Hobson, and Ed Bakey as George Beenstock. Jimmy Van Heusen
James Van Heusen (born Edward Chester Babcock; January 26, 1913 – February 6, 1990) was an American composer. He wrote songs for films, television and theater, and won an Emmy and four Academy Awards for Best Original Song. Life and career Born in Syracuse, New York, Van Heusen began writing music while at high school. He renamed himself at age 16, after the shirt makers Phillips-Van Heusen, to use as his on-air name during local shows. His close friends called him "Chet".Coppula, C. (2014). Danny Daniels
Danny Daniels, (October 25, 1924 – July 9, 2017), born Daniel Giagni, Jr., was an American choreographer, tap dancer, and a dance teacher. Daniels was a featured dancer in several 1940s Broadway musicals, including ''Billion Dollar Baby'', '' Street Scene'', and ''Kiss Me, Kate''. Although he continued performing during the 1950s and after, including a tour with the Agnes de Mille Dance Theatre, Daniels quickly moved into choreography for stage, film, and television. He won a Tony Award and an Astaire Award in 1984 for ''The Tap Dance Kid'' and received three more Tony nominations for '' High Spirits'', '' Walking Happy'', and the 1967 revival of '' Annie Get Your Gun''.
