Walkaway, Western Australia
Walkaway is a small town in the City of Greater Geraldton local government area of Western Australia. At the , Walkaway had a population of 270. Its name is a corruption of the native "Wagga wah", referring to the bend in the nearby Greenough River, and was originally given to the railway station when a line was built from Geraldton in 1887. Rail In 1894 Midland railway line, Western Australia was linked with Midland Junction by the building of a private line–that of the Midland Railway Company, constructed by an engineer and later the first general manager of the company, Edward V. H. Keane. With the railway and an expanding agricultural area, the township grew until with the dieselisation of the railway systems, and the take-over by the State of the Midland Railway in 1964, decline set in. This was also accentuated by the gradual absorption of the original smallholdings into the larger holdings of today's farming demands. Renewable Energy A number of renewable energy ...

Electoral District Of Geraldton
Geraldton is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. Geraldton was one of the original 30 seats contested at the 1890 colonial election. The district is based on the eponymous regional city. Labor held throughout most of the twentieth century, Geraldton has since become a seat that has changed hands regularly in the last two decades. Geography The district has always been based on the regional coastal city of Geraldton. Electoral reform ahead of the 2008 state election necessitated an increase in the district's enrolment and thus an expansion of its boundaries, as it did for all non-metropolitan districts. This means the district now includes all outlying suburbs of the city, as well as adjacent rural areas. The district's current boundaries are identical with the former City of Geraldton-Greenough, itself a newly formed local government area. History Geraldton changed hands frequently between different members and pa ...

Midland Railway Of Western Australia
The Midland Railway of Western Australia (MRWA) was a railway company that built and operated the Midland line in Western Australia. It was listed on the London Stock Exchange. Although having its headquarters in London, it had no association with the English Midland Railway. History In December 1883, John Waddington representing a syndicate of English capitalists, proposed to Governor Broome to build a line from York via Northam, Newcastle, Bejoording, New Norcia and along the Berkshire Valley to Geraldton under a land grant scheme. A parliamentary select committee recommended the route be altered to branch off from the Eastern Railway at Guildford and run via Chittering, Bindoon, Victoria Plains, Carnamah, Arrino, Upper Irwin and Dongara to Walkaway where it would join the Western Australian Government Railway's line from Geraldton. The agreement was signed on 27 February 1886, with work commencing a few days later.">/sup> By 1911, 16 subdivisions between M ...

When it opened in October, 2012, it was the country's first utility-scale solar farm. It remained Australia's largest solar PV system until 2014, when it was superseded by the 20 MW Royalla solar farm in Canberra. The Greenough River Solar Farm was built by Verve Energy and joint venture partners GE Financial Services. It uses over 150,000 thin film modules based on CdTe-PV technology provided by U.S. company First Solar. Its exact location is at Nangetty Walkaway Road, Walkaway, 50 kilometres southeast of Geraldton and covers an area of . The solar farm has been owned by Bright Energy investments since April 2018. Walkaway Wind Farm
Alinta wind farm (also known as Walkaway wind farm) is a wind power station at Walkaway, just south of Geraldton, Western Australia. It is owned by Infigen Energy and has offtake agreements with Alinta Energy and AGL Energy. The Alinta wind farm has an installed capacity of 89.1 megawatts. It supplies Perth and the south west in the South West Interconnected System (SWIS). Each year the wind farm generates energy that would normally produce 360,150 tonnes of greenhouse gases if generated by fossil fuel based methods. This is the equivalent of removing 76,000 cars from the roads. Electricity produced by the wind farm is purchased mainly by Alinta Energy. In June 2022, one of the turbines collapsed, causing the wind farm to be temporarily shut down. Renewable Energy
Renewable energy is energy that is collected from renewable resources that are naturally replenished on a human timescale. It includes sources such as sunlight, wind, the movement of water, and geothermal heat. Although most renewable energy sources are sustainable, some are not. For example, some biomass sources are considered unsustainable at current rates of exploitation. Renewable energy often provides energy for electricity generation to a grid, air and water heating/cooling, and stand-alone power systems. Renewable energy technology projects are typically large-scale, but they are also suited to rural and remote areas and developing countries, where energy is often crucial in human development. Renewable energy is often deployed together with further electrification, which has several benefits: electricity can move heat or objects efficiently, and is clean at the point of consumption. In addition, electrification with renewable energy is more efficient and therefore ...

Dieselisation
Dieselisation (US: dieselization) is the process of equipping vehicles with a diesel engine or diesel engines. It can involve replacing an internal combustion engine powered by petrol (gasoline) fuel with an engine powered by diesel fuel, as occurred on a large scale with trucks, buses, farm tractors, and building construction machinery after the Second World War. Alternatively it can involve replacing the entire plant or vehicle with one that is diesel-powered; the term commonly describes the generational replacement between the 1930s and the 1970s of railway steam locomotives with diesel locomotives, and associated facilities. Water transport The Two-stroke diesel engine for marine applications was introduced in 1908 and remains in use today. It is the most efficient prime mover to date, models such as the Wärtsilä-Sulzer RTA96-C offer a thermal efficiency of 50% and over 100,000 horsepowers. First steps towards conversions using diesel engines as means of propulsion (on sm ...
