''Walk a Tightrope'' is a 1964 Anglo-American crime film directed by Frank Nesbitt, written by Neil McCallum, and starring Dan Duryea, Patricia Owens, Terence Cooper, Richard Leech, Neil McCallum and Trevor Reid. Crime films, in the broadest sense, is a film genre inspired by and analogous to the crime fiction literary genre. Films of this genre generally involve various aspects of crime and its detection. Stylistically, the genre may overlap and combine with many other genres, such as drama or gangster film, but also include comedy, and, in turn, is divided into many sub-genres, such as mystery, suspense or noir. Screenwriter and scholar Eric R. Basil Emmott, BSC (5 July 1894 – 23 January 1976) was a prolific English cinematographer with 190 films to his credit, active from the 1920s to the 1960s. Emmott's career started in the silent era and continued through to the mid-1960s. His most prolific decade was the 1930s, when he was involved with almost 120 films, many of which were produced by noted documentary film-maker John Grierson. Emmott worked mainly in the field of quota quickies and B-movies. His output covered the entire spectrum of film genres, from comedy and musicals, through melodrama and thrillers, to crime and horror films. Neil John McCallum (20 May 192926 April 1976) was a British-Canadian actor. After attending the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, McCallum's first major appearance on stage was alongside Sam Wanamaker in '' The Rainmaker'' in the mid-1950s. He appeared in British TV series in the 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s, including ''The Saint'', '' Department S'' and ''UFO'', and in films such as ''The Siege of Pinchgut'' (1959) and ''Dr. Terror's House of Horrors'' (1965). Buxton Orr (18 April 1924 – 27 December 1997) was a Glasgow-born Anglo-Scottish composer and teacher. Life Originally trained as a doctor, Orr gave up medicine and switched to music in 1952, studying composition at the Guildhall School of Music with Benjamin Frankel and conducting with Aylmer Buesst. Through Frankel's help and influence, Orr became active for a time composing film scores, and his first general recognition as a composer came from the high profile production of Tennessee Williams' ''Suddenly Last Summer'' in 1959, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Katharine Hepburn and directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz. His one-act opera ''The Wager'' was successfully staged at Sadler’s Wells in 1961.
