Waldemar Dalenogare Neto
Waldemar Dalenogare Neto (Porto Alegre, April 3, 1991) better known as Dalenogare, is a Brazilian film critic, researcher, historian and university professor. He was the first South American to join the Critics Choice Association, which organizes the Critics' Choice Movie Awards. He is also a member of Film Independent (where he votes for the Independent Spirit Awards), Academia Brasileira de Cinema, Online Film Critics Society (OFCS), and director of CINESOV (Center for Soviet Film Studies). He has a doctorate in history from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) and a postgraduate degree in cinema. He currently resides in the United States, where he works in a research laboratory in Boston. As of 2019, he started talking about cinema on his own YouTube channel, called Dalenogare Críticas. The Critics Choice Association (CCA), formerly the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA), is an association of television, radio and online critics. Their membership includes critics who review film and television. Founded in 1995, it is the largest film critics organization in the United States and Canada. The Critics' Choice Movie Awards (formerly known as the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award) is an awards show presented annually by the American-Canadian Critics Choice Association (CCA) to honor the finest in cinematic achievement. Independent Spirit Awards
The Independent Spirit Awards (abbreviated Spirit Awards and originally known as the FINDIE or Friends of Independents Awards), founded in 1984, are awards dedicated to independent filmmakers. Winners were typically presented with Poly(methyl methacrylate), acrylic glass pyramids containing suspended shoestrings representing the bare budgets of independent films. Since 2006, winners have received a metal trophy depicting a bird with its wings spread sitting atop of a pole with the shoestrings from the previous design wrapped around the pole. The Online Film Critics Society (OFCS) is an international professional association of online film journalists, historians and scholars who publish their work on the World Wide Web. The organization was founded in January 1997 by Harvey S. Karten, an early online critic who discovered that membership in the New York Film Critics Circle was open only to journalists working for newspapers and magazines. Online critics have generally found it difficult to gain acceptance for their work, and one role of the OFCS is to provide professional recognition to the most prolific and successful online critics.
