In some cultures, a surname, family name, or last name is the portion of one's personal name that indicates one's family, tribe or community. Practices vary by culture. Alfons Walde
Alfons Walde (8 February 1891 – 11 December 1958) was an Austrian artist and architect. Art Walde is known best for his winter landscapes and farming images, especially skiing and sporting scenes, painted in tempera or impastoed oil paint. Many of his paintings can be seen in the Museum gallery in Kitzbühel. Life and career Walde was born in Oberndorf (near Kitzbühel) in Tyrol. He produced his first watercolour and tempera paintings during his school days. From 1910 to 1914 he studied architecture at the Technische Hochschule in Vienna, while continuing his education as a painter. In the Danubian metropolis he moved in artistic circles that included Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt, and he became influenced by Ferdinand Hodler. In 1911 Walde had his first exhibition in Innsbruck, and in 1913 presented four farm pictures at the prestigious Vienna Secession exhibition. Alois Walde
Alois Walde (November 30, 1869 – October 3, 1924) was an Austrian linguist. Alois Walde studied classical philology and comparative linguistics at the University of Innsbruck where he was awarded a PhD in 1894. The year after, he became a state employee at the university library. In 1895, he was awarded his '' habilitation'' and became a professor in 1904 at the University of Innsbruck. 1909-1912, Walde was Professor of comparative linguistics at the University of Giessen, but returned in 1912 to Innsbruck where he became the dean of faculty in 1914 and rector of the university in 1916. The year after, he became a corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. In 1922, he took up a professorship at Albertina University Königsberg. Arve Walde
Arve Grøvan Walde (born 19 May 1985) is a footballer playing for Fyllingsdalen. He is a younger brother of former club-colleague Knut Walde. Career Walde debuted for Brann's first team in 2003, but apart from a short period in 2004, he never managed to establish himself in the starting line-up. In 2006, Walde was loaned out to the local club Løv-Ham, where he reunited with his brother Knut Walde. The clubs agreed on a one-year loan deal. Walde also signed a two-year contract with Brann before being loaned out to Løv-Ham. Before the 2007 season, however, he signed a contract making him Løv-Ham-player on a permanent basis. In 2012 Løv-Ham merged to form Fyllingsdalen, where Walde continued to play.
