Wake Forest Intellectual Property Law Journal
The ''Wake Forest Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law'' is a student-run law journal produced by the Wake Forest University School of Law. The journal was founded in 2001 after years of lobbying and preparation by students, professors, and alumni active in the field of intellectual property law. The journal is one of three publications produced by the Wake Forest University School of Law. The journal is independent from the Intellectual Property Law Association of Wake Forest University School of Law, but coordinates with that student group to plan events and host speakers on campus. In 2006, the journal was recently ranked 6th nationally out of all intellectual property law journals in the "2006 ExpressO Law Review Submissions Guide." Business & Intellectual Property Law
Business is the practice of making one's living or making money by producing or buying and selling products (such as goods and services). It is also "any activity or enterprise entered into for profit." Having a business name does not separate the business entity from the owner, which means that the owner of the business is responsible and liable for debts incurred by the business. If the business acquires debts, the creditors can go after the owner's personal possessions. A business structure does not allow for corporate tax rates. The proprietor is personally taxed on all income from the business. The term is also often used colloquially (but not by lawyers or by public officials) to refer to a company, such as a corporation or cooperative. Law reviews are a source of research, imbedded with analyzed and referenced legal topics; they also provide a scholarly analysis of emerging law concepts from various topics. Wake Forest University is a private research university in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece. Etymology The word comes from the ''Academy'' in ancient Greece, which derives from the Athenian hero, ''Akademos''. Outside the city walls of Athens, the gymnasium was made famous by Plato as a center of learning.
