Wake County Speedway
Wake County Speedway "America's Favorite Bullring" is a quarter-mile NASCAR Sanctioned asphalt race track located in Raleigh, NC. The track holds stock car races on alternating Friday nights from April to September. It has six main classes of cars which include Late Model Stocks, Chargers, Legends, Mini Stocks, Mod 4s, Bandoleros, and bombers. The track also has special appearances from USAC, East Coast Flathead Fords, Southern Ground Pounders, the Southeast Super Truck Series, and the CARS Tour. History Wake County Speedway was established in 1962 by Glenn, Talmadge and Marvin Simpkins. It was leased out to Donald Macon until 1987. The Simpkins family operated the speedway from 1987 until 2013. It was leased by Adam Resinick for 2 seasons. Mike Stodder operated the track from 2015-2017. USAC Stock Car
The USAC Stock Car division was the stock car racing class sanctioned by the United States Auto Club (USAC). The division raced nationally; drivers from USAC's open wheel classes like Indy cars, Silver Crown, sprints, and midgets frequently competed in races and won championships. Several NASCAR drivers raced in USAC Stock Cars at various points in their careers. In the late 1950s, USAC Stock Cars rivaled NASCAR stock cars with races throughout the Midwestern and Northeastern United States. Benny Parsons
Benjamin Stewart Parsons (July 12, 1941 – January 16, 2007) was an American NASCAR driver, and later an announcer/analyst/pit reporter on SETN, TBS, ABC, ESPN, NBC, and TNT. He became famous as the 1973 NASCAR Winston Cup Series champion, and was a 2017 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee. Kenneth Schrader (born May 29, 1955) is an American professional racing driver. He currently races on local dirt and asphalt tracks around the country while also competing part-time in the ARCA Menards Series, driving the No. 11 Ford for Fast Track Racing, and the Superstar Racing Experience, driving the No. 52 car. Dennis Setzer
Dennis Setzer (born February 27, 1960) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He has driven in all three of NASCAR's top series, scoring eighteen wins in the Camping World Truck Series. Beginnings Setzer made his NASCAR debut in the Busch Series in 1991 in the All Pro 300. He started 5th in his own #4 Ford Thunderbird, but crashed on lap nine and finished 40th. He ran another race the following year, at Hickory Motor Speedway in a car owned by Bill Davis. He wrecked in that race as well but still managed to finish 26th. Randy Renfrow
Randy Renfrow (born January 28, 1958) is an American former stock car racing driver. He raced many years in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series before retiring. Renfrow has won 237 late model races at 40 different tracks over his career. Nextel Cup Series Renfrow attempted numerous races in early 2002, all for Price Motorsports. However, Renfrow only made one race. He would start and finish 43rd (last) on the spring field at Richmond. He only competed 58 laps in that race before retiring due to oil pump failure. Craftsman Truck Series Renfrow started his CTS career in 1996, running seven races. His debut came for the #41 George Turnage Dodge team at Bristol.
