Wakadaishō Series
The Wakadaishō series is a series of films starring Yūzō Kayama and Kunie Tanaka. The first film in the series was ''Daigaku no Wakadaishō'' from 1961. Masao Kusakari portrayed the role of Wakadaishō in two other films. All of the films star Kayama as Yuichi Tanuma, nicknamed the meaning "young ace" or "whizz kid" for his prowess in various sports. His perpetual antagonist is the lecherous Shinjiro Ishiyama, played by Kunie Tanaka, who is nicknamed , the Japanese name of the Japanese rat snake. Yūzō Kayama
is a Japanese popular musician, singer-songwriter and actor. Life and career Son of mid-twentieth century film star Ken Uehara,and actress Yoko Kozakura, ( ja) Kayama graduated from Keio University. Yuzo Kayama signed with Toho and made his film debut with ''Otoko tai Otoko'' directed by Senkichi Taniguchi in 1960. He was cast in the leading role in the 1960 film ''Dokuritsu Gurentai Nishie'' directed by Kihachi Okamoto. Kayama rose to stardom in the 1960s in the '' Wakadaishō'' ("Young Guy") film series. He showed his ability for drama when Akira Kurosawa cast him for his films ''Sanjuro'' and ''Red Beard''. In the 1970s, he starred such television dramas as ''Edo no Kaze'' and ''Daitsuiseki''. As a guitarist, he took inspiration from the American instrumental group The Ventures, and performed a form of psychedelic surf music in the 1960s with his Mosrite guitar. Kunie Tanaka
was a Japanese actor. Tanaka first made a name for himself as the lecherous antagonist of the ''Wakadaishō'' series (1961–1981) of films. He is also well-known for his roles in Kinji Fukasaku's yakuza films, namely the ''Battles Without Honor and Humanity'' series (1973–1974), and for starring in the ''Kita no Kuni Kara'' (1981–2002) television series. Tanaka was nominated for five Japanese Academy Awards, winning Best Supporting Actor for ''Gakko'' in 1993. He also won the Blue Ribbon Award for Best Supporting Actor for ''Nogare no Machi'' and ''Izakaya Chōji'' in 1983, and the Blue Ribbon Award for Best Actor for '' Uhohho Tankentai'' in 1986. Masao Kusakari
is a Japanese actor and model (profession), model. Biography Masao Kusakari was born in Fukuoka Prefecture to a Japanese mother and an American father, the latter who died in the Korean War. Japanese Rat Snake
The Japanese rat snake (''Elaphe climacophora'') is a medium-sized colubrid snake found throughout the Japanese archipelago (except the far South West) as well as on the Russian-administered Kunashir Island. In Japanese it is known as the ''aodaishō'' or "blue general". It is non-venomous. It is hunted by eagles and tanukis. The snakes hibernate for three to four months, mate in spring and lay 7–20 eggs in early summer. Description Adults reach one to two meters in length and about five centimeters in girth.
