Wajo Regency is a regency in South Sulawesi Province of Indonesia. It covers an area of 2,506.19 km2 and had a population of 384,694 at the 2010 Census, and 379,079 at the 2020 Census. South Sulawesi ( id, Sulawesi Selatan) is a province in the southern peninsula of Sulawesi. The Selayar Islands archipelago to the south of Sulawesi is also part of the province. A regency ( id, kabupaten), sometimes incorrectly referred to as a district, is an administrative division of Indonesia, directly under a province and on the same level with city (''kota''). Wajoq, also spelled Wajo, Wajo', or Wajok, was a Bugis people, Bugis elective principality in the eastern part of the South Sulawesi peninsula.
