Hoani Waititi
Hoani Retimana Waititi (12 April 1926 – 30 September 1965) was a notable New Zealand teacher, educationalist and community leader. Of Māori people, Māori descent, he identified with the Te Whānau-ā-Apanui iwi. He was born in Whangaparaoa near Cape Runaway, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, in 1926. His father was Kūaha Waititi, a farmer, and his mother was Kirimātao Heremia Kerei, both of them of the Te Whānau-a-Kauaetangohia hapū of Te Whānau-ā-Apanui. He trained as a teacher in 1947–48 and gained a BA at in 1955. He worked as a teacher and in other areas of education. He died of cancer at the age of 39. Hoani Waititi Marae in West Auckland, New Zealand, West Auckland is named in his honour. June Mariu is his niece, the daughter of his older brother Manihera. Rawiri Waititi is his great-nephew. Kahurangi Waititi (born 22 September 1982) is a New Zealand netball player in the ANZ Championship. She signed with the Central Pulse for the 2008 season, but has been signed to play for the Canterbury Tactix Mainland Tactix are a New Zealand netball team based in Christchurch, Canterbury. Rawiri Waititi
Rawiri Wikuki Waititi (born ) is a New Zealand politician, iwi leader, Ringatū minister, and kapa haka exponent. He is a co-leader of Te Pāti Māori alongside Debbie Ngarewa-Packer and has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for since 2020. A member of Te Pāti Māori, his election to the New Zealand Parliament returned the party to parliamentary politics following their defeat at the 2017 general election. Personal life Rawiri Waititi was born in the Eastern Bay of Plenty area. His father is Winston Waititi (youngest brother of Dame June Mariu) of Whangaparāoa / Cape Runaway, and his mother is Florence Waititi. Rawiri is the oldest of their four children. Taika David Cohen (born 16 August 1975), known professionally as Taika Waititi ( ), is a New Zealand filmmaker, actor, and comedian. He is a recipient of an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, and a Grammy Award, and has received two nominations at the Primetime Emmy Awards. His feature films ''Boy'' (2010) and '' Hunt for the Wilderpeople'' (2016) have each been the top-grossing New Zealand film. ''Time'' magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world on its annual list in 2022. Tweedie Waititi
Tweedie Waititi is a New Zealand film director and producer. The whāngai sister of Taika Waititi, she is best known for her work co-directing production company Matewa Media, which since 2016 has produced Māori language versions of Disney animated films. Biography Waititi grew up in the Te Whānau-ā-Apanui community of Waihau Bay in the Bay of Plenty. She is the first cousin of Taika Waititi, but as they were raised together through whāngai adoption, they consider each other siblings. Waititi studied film at the South Seas Film & Television School. In 2012, she worked as a language coach for the Rachel House-directed production of William Shakespeare's ''Troilus and Cressida'', performed in Māori. In 2017, Waititi formed the production company Matewa Media alongside filmmaker (and then wife of her cousin Taika Waititi) Chelsea Winstanley.
