Waiting For The Sirens' Call (single)
"Waiting for the Sirens' Call" is a single released in 2005 by English band New Order (band), New Order. It was released by London Records on 26 September 2005, and was the third single from the Waiting for the Sirens' Call, album of the same title. Release Rather than the typical Maxi single, maxi CD and DVD configuration for the single, "Waiting for the Sirens' Call" was initially released as three separate 7" singles. Each 7" contained a different mix of the single as an A-side. On the B-side, each 7" contained a brand new remix of a classic New Order single. Many saw this as a bridging of the ''Waiting for the Sirens' Call'' album and the then-forthcoming ''Singles (New Order album), Singles'' compilation. A CD single for "Waiting for the Sirens' Call" followed the three 7" singles, and was released on 3 October 2005. The two-track CD featured full-length remixes of the song. The song was added to BBC Radio 2's A-List and was also playlisted by Xfm London. It debuted at #21 on ...

New Order (band)
New Order are an English rock band formed in 1980 by vocalist and guitarist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris. The members regrouped after the demise of their previous band Joy Division due to the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis. They were joined by Gillian Gilbert on keyboards later that year. New Order's integration of post-punk with electronic and dance music made them one of the most acclaimed and influential bands of the 1980s. They were the flagship band for Manchester-based independent record label Factory Records and its nightclub The Haçienda, and they worked in long-term collaboration with graphic designer Peter Saville. While the band's early years were overshadowed by the legacy of Joy Division, their experience of the early 1980s New York club scene saw them increasingly incorporate dance rhythms and electronic instrumentation into their work. Their 1983 hit " Blue Monday" became the best-selling 12-inch single of all time and a ...

Richard X
Richard Philips, better known by his stage name Richard X, is a British songwriter and music producer. Gaining attention as a pioneer of the bootleg craze, Richard X has earned success as a producer and remixer. He has helmed hit singles for artists including Annie, Kelis, Liberty X, Rachel Stevens and Sugababes. According to an early issue of the now defunct ''Popworld'' magazine, Philips' alias comes from a postcard which was sealed with a kiss misinterpreted for the letter X. Richard X is known for his "synthesised, grungy pop music", which was inspired by bands such as The Human League and Kraftwerk. His original intention was to "reinvent" pop music by making records that are "deliberately unplayable". Referring to his 'Girls on Top' bootlegs, Richard X says, "At the time it was inspired by anti the po-facedness of the electronica scene as much as anything. The production side, how it sounded – rough and spiky, electronic and modern – was what did it for me. Taking pop an ...

Temptation (New Order Song)
"Temptation" is a stand-alone single released by English band New Order on Factory Records in 1982. The single reached number 29 on the UK Singles Chart. Original release The 7" version is a more structured version with a commercial synthpop feel; the 12" is more chaotic with the emphasis on electronic rhythms rather than melody. The 7" version plays at 33⅓ rpm to accommodate its length of around five and a half minutes. Both versions bear the same catalogue number "FAC 63" despite these differences. The 12" versions of both "Temptation" and its B-side, "Hurt", appear on New Order's mopping-up EP '' 1981–1982'', released a few months after the single itself. Neither version mentioned the band's name on the sleeve; instead the song title and catalogue number FAC 63 were embossed into the cover. The vocal track on the original 12" version features an audible "startled yelp" during the song's intro. Vocalist Bernard Sumner has since explained that the scream was from hi ...
