The fifth season of the American animated television series ''SpongeBob SquarePants'', created by former marine biology, marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg, aired on Nickelodeon from February 19, 2007, to July 19, 2009, and contained 20 half-hour episodes. The series chronicles the exploits and adventures of the spongeBob SquarePants (character), title character and his various friends in the fictional underwater city of Bikini Bottom. The season was executive producer, executive produced by series creator Hillenburg and writer Paul Tibbitt, who also acted as the showrunner. The season received high acclaim from media critics and fans. Thomas James Kenny (born July 13, 1962) is an American actor and comedian. He is known for voicing the titular character in ''SpongeBob SquarePants'' and associated media.
