Waitara Soccer Club
Waitara Soccer Club is an association football club from North Taranaki, New Zealand. Its home ground and clubrooms are at Manukorihi Park in the town of Waitara adjacent to the Waitara River. In its first year the Waitara club won the Julian Cup and with it the 1905 Taranaki Championship. In September 1905 the champion Waitara side played a match against Corinthians, the touring Auckland champions, at the Camp Reserve, Waitara. Waitara has competed for the Chatham Cup, with their best performance coming in the 1965 tournament, when they reached the fifth round. The 1965 cup run included wins against Spotswood College, Taranaki champions Moturoa, Whanganui champions Wanganui United, before being defeated by Hawke's Bay champions Napier Rovers. Waitara, New Zealand
Waitara is a town in the northern part of the Taranaki region of the North Island of New Zealand. Waitara is located just off State Highway 3, northeast of New Plymouth. Waitara was the site of the outbreak of the Taranaki Wars in 1860 following the attempted purchase of land for British settlers from its Māori owners. Disputes over land that was subsequently confiscated by the Government continue to this day. The commonly accepted meaning of the name Waitara is "mountain stream", though Maori legend also states that it was originally Whai-tara—"path of the dart". Moturoa AFC
Moturoa AFC is one of New Zealand's oldest association football clubs. Based in New Plymouth, the club traces its establishment back to the Watersiders Association Football Club. Moturoa AFC has rich history with the club having success in many regional and national competitions. Its clubrooms and home ground are at Onuku Taipari Domain, Ngāmotu Road, Spotswood, New Plymouth, Spotswood. Early history Originally the Moturoa Football Club was a short-lived rugby club, started by the Breakwater Sports Committee in the kiosk at Ngāmotu Beach in early 1914, before amalgamating with the Star club. Moturoa FC's home ground was the prison reserve field adjacent to Otaka Street in Moturoa. The ''Taranaki Daily News'' is a daily morning newspaper published in New Plymouth, New Zealand. History The paper was founded as the ''Taranaki News'' on 14 May 1857, by friends of former Taranaki Province Superintendent Charles Brown.J.S. Tullett, ''The Industrious Heart: A History of New Plymouth'', New Plymouth City Council, 1981. Brown was the first proprietor of the newspaper and he appointed his political supporter and former ''Taranaki Herald'' editor Richard Pheney as its editor. 2008 Chatham Cup
The 2008 Chatham Cup is the New Zealand's 81st knockout football competition. The final was played on 13 September at North Harbour Stadium, North Shore. In all, 132 teams took part in the 2008 competition. Note: there is some confusion as to the round numbers. Some publications list a preliminary round, a qualification round, and four rounds proper before quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final; others list a preliminary round and five rounds before the quarter-finals. the latter numbering system is used in this article. The 2008 competition's final rounds were unusual for two reasons: only one of the four semi-finalists had ever previously reached the semi-finals (Dunedin Technical - the only team to have done so - won the cup in 1999), and two South Island teams reached the semi-finals for the first time since 1995. Napier City Rovers is a football team based in Napier, New Zealand, competing in the Central Premier League. Club history The team was founded in 1973 via a merger of Napier Rovers and Napier City. Napier City Rovers have won New Zealand's premier knockout football competition (the Chatham Cup) five times, in 1985, 1993, 2000, 2002, and 2019 won the old New Zealand National Soccer League in 1989, 1993, 1998, and 2000. They represented New Zealand at the Oceania Club Championship in 2001, finishing third. Hawke's Bay ( mi, Te Matau-a-Māui) is a local government region on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island. Whanganui Athletic FC are an association football team based in the New Zealand North Island city of Whanganui. They are traditionally the strongest team from the city, and played in the top flight of New Zealand football in both league and cup competitions. Whanganui
Whanganui (; ), also spelled Wanganui, is a city in the Manawatū-Whanganui region of New Zealand. Spotswood College
Spotswood College is a co-educational state secondary school in Spotswood, New Plymouth, New Zealand. It was founded in 1960 and celebrated its 50th Jubilee in 2010. It was formerly New Zealand's largest school. It is New Plymouth's only co-educational secondary school, with a current roll of students.
