"Wait" is the debut single by Australian recording artist Gyan from her self-titled debut album. The song was released in August 1989 as the album's lead single and peaked at number 14 on the ARIA charts. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1990, the song was nominated for ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist - single. In 2015, Gyan re-recorded the track for her album '' This Girl's in Love'', retitling it "Wait #2". Gyan Evans
Gyan Evans (born c. 1960), who performs as Gyan (), is an Australian singer-songwriter and record producer. She began her musical career in the Sydney band Haiku before winning the 1986 grand final in the local version of the TV talent quest ''Star Search''. This led to a recording contract with Warner Music, which resulted in her October 1989 debut self-titled album. It peaked in the top 30 on the ARIA Albums Chart and provided "Wait", which reached the top 20 on the ARIA Singles Chart. At the ARIA Music Awards of 1990 she won the ARIA Award for Best New Talent. Early years Gyan Evans was born in about 1960 and was raised in Geelong. Both her parents were English migrants and Gyan is the youngest of their four children. Charles Fisher (producer)
Charles Fisher is an Australian record producer, often referred to as "The Song Doctor." He is widely known as the producer of Savage Garden's eponymous album which yielded 10 ARIAs (including Producer of the Year, Engineer of the Year and a Special Achievement Award for himself) in 1997. The Fourth Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as the ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAS) was held on 26 March 1990 at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre in Sydney. ''This Girl's in Love'' is the sixth studio album by Australian singer-songwriter Gyan, released on 26 October 2015. The ARIA Charts are the main Australian music sales charts, issued weekly by the Australian Recording Industry Association. The charts are a record of the highest selling songs and albums in various genres in Australia.
