Waikato United
Waikato United was an association football club in Waikato, New Zealand. History Waikato United was formed in 1986. It was initially named AFC Waikato and came about through the amalgamation of AFC Hamilton with support from Hamilton Wanderers FC and Claudelands Rovers FC. In 1988 the name was changed to Waikato United. When formed Waikato took over Claudland Rovers' position in 1986's Northern League Division One. The club won the division in its first season. This saw the club gain promotion to the Northern Premier League. In the Chatham Cup The club was eliminated away 2–1 by Oratia United in the third round. The 1987 season saw Waikato play in the Northern Premier League for the only time in its existence. The club played very well and won the completion in their first attempt. Christchurch Rangers
Rangers AFC was one of the oldest football teams in New Zealand and was located in Christchurch, New Zealand. In 2007 they merged with New Brighton to form Coastal Spirit History Rangers AFC was founded in 1910 by a group of dedicated players who were denied the opportunity to play on Saturday owing to the nature of their employment. All were employed in the retail trade, which in 1910 opened all day Saturday for business and closed on a Thursday afternoon and games were arranged against teams which could play them that particular day. The club was officially constituted under the Canterbury Football Association in 1913 when the half-day closing on Saturday was adopted for all retail merchants. Fencibles United AFC is an amateur association football club, they currently compete in the Lotto Sport Italia NRFL Division 2. The club is based in Howick/Pakuranga, Auckland. The clubs roots go back to Pakuranga Town AFC and Howick AFC. History In 1995, two East Auckland clubs, Pakuranga Town AFC and Howick AFC, amalgamated to form Fencibles United AFC. The adoption of 'Fencibles United AFC' as the name for the club, has recognised the Fencibles as the historic link between the two clubs and identifies with the locality. Bill McKinlay Park, (formerly Ireland Road Domain) is a multi-purpose stadium in the suburb of Mount Wellington in Auckland, New Zealand. It is used for football matches and is the home stadium of NRF League One side Uni-Mount Bohemian. Napier City Rovers is a football team based in Napier, New Zealand, competing in the Central Premier League. Club history The team was founded in 1973 via a merger of Napier Rovers and Napier City. Superclub Competition
The Superclub league was a national association football league competition which ran in New Zealand from 1993 to 1995. It replaced the first incarnation of the New Zealand National Soccer League and was itself replaced by the National Summer Soccer League. Background Towards the end of the 23-year history of the NZNSL's first incarnation it became obvious that some clubs were finding it difficult to recoup the costs of competing. Matters were brought to a head in 1987 when Dunedin City withdrew from the league, citing the heavy expense of travel. As the league's southernmost club, and with many of the league's sides based in Auckland, City was especially hard hit by financial concerns related to travel, and these costs proved to be a discouragement to other sides from the far south of the country. Vaughan Coveny (born 13 December 1971) is a retired football player who frequently represented New Zealand in international matches. Coveny's senior club career spanned 20 years, with his most notable stint being at South Melbourne during their National Soccer League era.
