Wagon Trail (film)
''Wagon Trail'' is a 1935 American western film directed by Harry L. Fraser and starring Harry Carey, Gertrude Messinger and Edward Norris. It was produced as an independent second feature in Hollywood's Poverty Row.Pitts p.16 It was re-released by Astor Pictures in 1948. Plot Clay Hartley Jr., the son of the town's sheriff, gets trapped in gambling debts by his future father-in-law, Collins. Collins coerces Junior to act as a lookout for a stagecoach robbery where a deputy sheriff is killed; the only one caught is Clay Junior. Clay Senior loses his badge and takes the opportunity to deal out harsh justice. Earl Dwire
Earl Dwire (October 3, 1883 – January 16, 1940), born Earl Dean Dwire, was an American character actor who appeared in more than 150 movies between 1921 and his death in 1940. Dwire acted for three years in stock theater with companies in Portland and Seattle. In December 1912, he joined the American Theater company in Spokane, Washington, and shortly after was named the company's manager when the previous manager resigned. In 1921, he acted with, and was the director of, the Wright Players. Noted for his almost frightening long face, Dwire worked mainly as a villain in westerns, including ''Riders of Destiny'' (1933) with John Wayne in the first singing cowboy movie and ''The Trail Beyond'' (1934) opposite Wayne, Noah Beery, Sr., and Noah Beery, Jr. He enjoys a particularly large showcase opposite John Wayne and Gabby Hayes in ''The Lawless Frontier'' (1934). Luther Palmer (July 31, 1904 – March 22, 1982) was an American film and television actor. Born in Xenia, Ohio. He appeared in over 300 films and television programs between 1929 to 1962. Barney Beasley
Barney Beasley (June 20, 1895 – June 1, 1951) was an American character actor of the 1930s and 1940s. Biography Born on June 20, 1895, in the small town of Blaine Bottom, Oklahoma, Beasley made his debut in films in 1930's ''Under Montana Skies'', in a small un-credited role of a townsman. Almost all of his roles were small and un-credited, many of them nameless, with three of his most numerous being that of a townsman, barfly or henchman. Occasionally, he would be given a slightly larger role, as of that of Pete in 1935's ''Gun Play''. His final performance was as a barfly in the 1944 film, ''The Last Horseman''. Beasley died on June 1, 1951, in Los Angeles, California, and was buried in the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California. James Lew Meehan (September 7, 1890 – August 10, 1951) was an American film actor. Meehan appeared in more than 200 films between 1921 and 1947. Victor Daniels (April 12, 1899 – December 1, 1955), known professionally as Chief Thundercloud, was an American character actor in Westerns. He is noted for being the first actor to play the role of Tonto, the Lone Ranger's Native-American companion, on the screen. Family and education Information available about Daniels is limited and vague. He repeatedly said he was born in the Oklahoma Territory. But his Social Security application lists his birth date as April 12, 1899, and his birthplace as Santa Cruz County in the Arizona Territory. He listed his parents as Jesus Daniels and Tomaca Daniels. Daniels claimed to be Cherokee, though he does not appear in tribal rolls of the period. He had a sister named Anita, born October 6, 1911, in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona Territory. John Elliott (actor)
John Hugh Elliott (July 5, 1876 – December 12, 1956) was an American actor who appeared on Broadway and in over 300 films during his career. He worked sporadically during the silent film era, but with the advent of sound his career took off, where he worked constantly for 25 years, finding a particular niche in "B" westerns. His versatility allowed him to play both "good guys" and "bad guys" with equal aplomb, working right up until his death in 1956. Early life Elliott was born on July 1876 in Keosauqua, Iowa to Sarah E. Norris and Jehue S. Elliott. He was the third of four children, and the only boy; his two older sisters were named Elizabeth and Fanny, with his younger sister named Nina. In February 1897, when Elliott was 20, his mother, his sister Fanny came down with typhoid fever. Elliott would be the only one of the three to survive.
