Wade Campbell
Wade Allan "Tiny" Campbell (born January 2, 1961) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League for the Winnipeg Jets and the Boston Bruins between 1982 and 1988. Campbell signed with Winnipeg as a free-agent in 1982 as a walk on out of University of Alberta. He went on to play a total of 213 regular season games, scoring 9 goals and 27 assists for 36 points, collecting 305 penalty minutes. He retired in 1991. The Moncton Golden Flames were a professional ice hockey team based in Moncton, New Brunswick, playing home games at the Moncton Coliseum. The team operated in the American Hockey League between 1984 and 1987. The new franchise was purchased by a group of 6 local business men after the previous franchise known as the Moncton Alpines moved to Halifax to become the Nova Scotia Oilers (The Alpines were a minor league affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers). 1983–84 NHL Season
The 1983–84 NHL season was the 67th season of the National Hockey League. The Edmonton Oilers de-throned the four-time defending Stanley Cup champion New York Islanders four games to one in the Cup finals. League business Not since World War II travel restrictions caused the NHL to drop regular season overtime games in 1942–43 had the NHL used overtime to decide regular season games. Starting this season, the NHL introduced a five-minute extra period of overtime following the third period in the event of a tied game. A team losing in overtime would get no points. This rule remained in effect until the 1999–2000 season, where a team losing in overtime was awarded 1 point. The Sherbrooke Jets were a minor professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL), based in Sherbrooke, Quebec. They were a farm team of the National Hockey League's Winnipeg Jets. The team was coached by Rick Bowness in the 1982–83 AHL season and Ron Racette in 1983–84. For their inaugural season, the team finished with a 22-54-4 record, good for only 48 points and last place in the North division. The New York Islanders won their fourth Stanley Cup in a row with their second consecutive finals sweep by beating the Edmonton Oilers four games to none. No team in any major professional North American sport has won four consecutive playoff championships since.
