The Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of McLennan and Falls counties in Central Texas, anchored by the city of Waco. As of the 1 April 2010 census (which included only McLennan County), the MSA had a population of 234,906. Rosebud, Texas
Rosebud is a city in Falls County, Texas, United States. Its population was 1,296 at the 2020 census. City landmarks Rosebud is the home of the "Rosebud Christmas tree", a 170-ft-tall artificial tree located at 128 W. Main St. The tree was erected by Bell Falls Milam Electric Co-op in the early 1960s. BFM was then bought out by Heart of Texas Electric Co-op. Lott, Texas
Lott is a city in Falls County, Texas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 644. History The Texas Townsite Company bought the land in 1889. When the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway was built through the area in 1890, Lott was founded; it was named in honor of Uriah Lott, president of the railroad. A post office was established at the settlement in 1890, with S. J. Crump as postmaster. When the community was incorporated by unanimous vote later that year, its population was estimated at more than 200. By 1892 Lott had Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian churches, two cotton gins and gristmills, a weekly newspaper, and 350 residents. Valley Mills, Texas
Valley Mills is a city in Bosque and McLennan counties in central Texas, United States. The population was 1,203 at the 2010 census. The McLennan County portion of Valley Mills is part of the Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Valley Mills was named for a flour mill established on the banks of the Bosque River in 1867 by Dr. E.P. Booth and Asbury Stegall. In 1881, the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway laid tracks a mile south of the community, across the Bosque River. Merchants, hoping to benefit from the railroad, began moving their stores across the river, to the tracks. On February 17, 1882, a cyclone (tornado) hit the new townsite, destroying a large number of buildings. Riesel, Texas
Riesel is a city in McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,062 at the 2020 census, a slight increase from the 1,007 people who lived in Riesel at the 2010 census. It is part of the Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Riesel, Texas, named after W.H. Riesel, one of the original settlers who built a Cotton gin there, has steadily been growing since being settled around 1880–1890. With the exception of a small decrease in population from 1930 to 1950, Riesel's population has continued to grow to a point where the town currently has over 1,000 residents.
