WZUM is a jazz radio station serving the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, market. The station broadcasts on 1550 kHz with a power of 1,000 watts daytime (4 watts at night) from studios in South Park, Pennsylvania, and is licensed to Braddock, Pennsylvania. Programming Before changing to jazz as WZUM, 1550's programming was provided by a format developed by veteran Pittsburgh radio programmer Clarke Ingram. WZUM-FM (88.1 FM) is a radio station licensed to Bethany, West Virginia, United States, and serving Wheeling, West Virginia. The station is owned by Pittsburgh Public Media. WZUM-FM is run by former staff members of the former WDUQ (which was sold in 2011 by Duquesne University and is now WESA, broadcasting a mostly NPR news/talk format with a small portion of jazz remaining), and broadcasts a jazz format. The station previously operated under the callsign WVBC and was a service of Bethany College, a private liberal arts college in the town of Bethany. George Peppard
George Peppard (; October 1, 1928 – May 8, 1994) was an American actor. He is best remembered for his role as struggling writer Paul Varjak in the 1961 film '' Breakfast at Tiffany's'', and for playing commando leader Col. John "Hannibal" Smith in the 1980s television series ''The A-Team''. Peppard secured a major role when he starred alongside Audrey Hepburn in '' Breakfast at Tiffany's'' (1961), and later portrayed a character based on Howard Hughes in ''The Carpetbaggers'' (1964). Air America (formerly Air America Radio and Air America Media) was an radio in the United States, American radio network specializing in progressive talk radio. It was on the air from March 2004 to January 2010. The network was founded as a left wing alternative to counter talk radio with a right wing perspective. Air America featured programs with monologues by on-air personalities, guest interviews, call-ins from listeners, and news reports. Several shows had million plus audiences, and multiple weekday presenters continued on in radio, television, or politics after their time on Air America. The ''Don and Mike Show'' was an American nationally syndicated radio talk show hosted by the shock jocks Don Geronimo and Mike O'Meara, which aired from December 1985 through April 11, 2008. The show debuted on WAVA-FM in 1985 as ''The Morning Zoo with Don and Mike''. The official name of the show became'' The Don and Mike Show'' when the duo moved to WJFK-FM in 1991. Urban adult contemporary, often abbreviated as urban AC or UAC, (also known as adult R&B,) is the name for a format of radio music, similar to an urban contemporary format. Radio stations using this format usually would not have hip hop music on their playlists, and generally include some mix of contemporary R&B and traditional R&B (while urban oldies stations emphasize only the latter). Urban adult contemporary playlists generally consist of many different genres that originated amongst Black Americans including R&B, soul, funk, disco, jazz, pop, hip-hop, electro, quiet storm, gospel, new jack swing, and hip-hop soul. WHAT (1340 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The station is owned by VM Broadcasting. History Founded as WHAT (1922–1944) On October 17, 1922, a new Philadelphia radio station was authorized by the government to the Lennig Brothers Co, a radio supply company headed up by Frederick Lennig at 827 Spring Garden Street. Ownership of the station changed twice within a two-year span. In 1939, the Bonwit Teller department store replaced The Evening Ledger newspaper as owner; in July 1940, J. David Stern, who published The Philadelphia Record newspaper bought the station from Bonwit Teller. At that time, WHAT operated with 100 watts of power.
