WYVN (92.7 FM, "The Van") is a radio station broadcasting a classic hits format licensed to Saugatuck, Michigan, with studios in Holland, Michigan and is owned along with WHTC by Midwest Communications. The station began operations on July 4, 1987 as WEVS. WEVS' music format consisted of a hybrid of rock and pop oldies dating back to the 1950s and current adult contemporary chart hits. During this time, the station was known as "The Lakeshore's Music Station," playing "Your Favorites of Five Decades." In January 2001 Midwest Communications, Inc. began operating WEVS under a local marketing agreement. On April 9, 2001, after a weekend of stunting with a reading of last names from the Holland telephone directory beginning with "Van," WEVS relaunched as Holland's Classic Hits 92 7 The Van and with the new call letters of WYVN. Midwest Communications is a Wausau, Wisconsin-based radio broadcasting company. It owns 82 radio stations located primarily within the Midwest United States, in Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Illinois and Wisconsin. WHTC
WHTC (1450 AM) is a news/talk radio station in Holland, Michigan. History The station signed on July 31, 1948 at 6:00 p.m. and originally was owned by six Holland-area businessmen: I.H Marsilje, Nelson Bosman (who served as mayor of Holland from 1961 to 1971), W.A. Butler (former owner of the Holland Evening Sentinel), Millard Westrate, Willard Wichers and P.T. Chef. All are since deceased. Michael Walton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin purchased the station (along with the old WHTC-FM) from the original owners in 1981. Holland is a city in the western region of the Lower Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is situated near the eastern shore of Lake Michigan on Lake Macatawa, which is fed by the Macatawa River (formerly known locally as the Black River). Saugatuck, Michigan
Saugatuck is a city in Allegan County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 865 at the 2020 census. The city is within Saugatuck Township, but is administratively autonomous. Originally a lumber town and port, Saugatuck, along with the adjacent city of Douglas, became a noted art colony and tourist destination in the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th century.
