WYOH (1540 AM) – branded as ''Real Talk 1540 WYOH'' on weekdays and ''La Nueva Mia 1540'' on weekends – is a commercial daytime-only radio station licensed to serve Niles, Ohio. Owned by Sagittarius Communications, LLC., the station covers the Youngstown metropolitan area. WYOH broadcasts a conservative talk format on weekdays and tropical music on weekends. The WYOH studios and transmitter are both located in Mineral Ridge; in addition to a standard analog transmission, WYOH is also available online. History The station went on the air as the original home of WNIO, which is where the call letters were derived from, the city of license of Niles, Ohio. The station was first owned by "The Niles Broadcasting Company," headed by Frank Bevilacqua, his son Robert Bevilacqua and Stephen Conti and operated out of studios at their transmitter site in Mineral Ridge, Ohio. Owned by Sagittarius Communications, LLC., the station covers the Youngstown metropolitan area and much of the Mahoning Valley. The WHTX studios are located in Mineral Ridge, while the station transmitter resides in Warren. Besides a standard analog transmission, WHTX is available online. History Past frequency usage The 1570 frequency was the original home of WHOT, then a daytime-only station that signed on October 16, 1955, licensed to the town of Campbell, Ohio. One of the first Top 40 stations in the United States, WHOT was founded by Myron Jones and Bill Fleckinstein, who first signed on WJET in Erie, Pennsylvania on 1570 kHz as a daytimer. After upgrading WJET to a full-time signal on 1400 kHz in 1955, Jones and Fleckinstein used the now-opened 1570 kHz to establish WHOT in the Youngstown suburb of Campbell, Ohio as a 250–watt no ... Owned by Helen Bednarczyk through licensee Y-Town Radio Broadcasting, LLC, the station serves the Youngstown metropolitan area as the local affiliate for ''The Steve Harvey Morning Show''; and the home of syndicated personalities Donnie McClurkin, Michael Baisden and Keith Sweat. WGFT also simulcasts over Girard translator W234CH (94.7 FM). The WGFT studios are located in downtown Youngstown, while the transmitter for WGFT resides on Blaine Avenue in Youngstown's Hazelton neighborhood; W234CH's transmitter is located on Sunset Drive in Youngstown's Pleasant Grove neighborhood.
