WYKV (94.5 MHz) is a listener-supported, non-commercial Christian Contemporary radio station licensed to Ravena, New York, and serving the Capital District and upper Hudson Valley of New York. History The 94.5 frequency signed on as WRAV-FM in November 1991 with a Jones "Adult Choice" satellite-fed Adult Contemporary format which tried to target Albany's southern suburbs. WRAV struggled from the outset with no less than three rivals in Albany and, soon after signing on, a rival in Catskill as well. The station is owned by Pamal Broadcasting and broadcasts an adult contemporary radio format, switching to Christmas music for much of November and December. Galaxy Media (formerly Galaxy Communications) is a radio broadcasting company with radio stations entirely in the Central New York area. History Ed Levine, current president, attended the Newhouse School at Syracuse University where his love for radio began. After serving as program director for the college radio station, Levine and two classmates started Syracuse’s first live FM radio station in 1978. In 1989, the first Galaxy station, WKLL was launched by the current CEO, Ed Levine, and his business partner, Bob Raide. WKLL was named for Ed and wife Pam’s then-19-month-old daughter Lauren. WAMC (1400 AM) is a public radio station licensed to Albany, New York and owned by WAMC, Inc. The station broadcasts with 1 kW, and is an AM repeater of WAMC-FM. History WAMC was first licensed on August 1, 1930 to W. Neal Parker and Herbert M. Metcalfe as WBGF in Glens Falls, New York, and initially broadcast on 1370 kHz. In 1932 the station's license was assigned to O. T. Griffin and G. F. Bisssel, representatives for the ''Elmira Star-Gazette'', and the call letters became WESG. The newspaper proposed to move the station to Elmira and change its frequency to 1420 kHz. Robert Thomas Mason (born April 22, 1961) is an American former professional ice hockey goaltender. During his career he played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Washington Capitals, Chicago Blackhawks, Quebec Nordiques, and Vancouver Canucks, while also playing for several teams in the minor American Hockey League and International Hockey League, in a career that lasted from 1984 to 1995. Delilah Rene (born February 15, 1960, in North Bend, Oregon) is an American radio personality, author, and songwriter, best known as the host of a nationally syndicated nightly U.S. radio song request and dedication program, with an estimated 8 million listeners. She first aired in the Seattle market as Delilah Rene, though she is now known simply as Delilah. Early life In 1969, Delilah's family moved from Coos Bay, Oregon, to neighboring Reedsport, where she attended school. In 1974, she won a middle-school speech contest judged by owners of the local AM radio station. Delilah began her radio career there, at KDUN in Reedsport, doing school reports.
