WWYC
WWYC is a radio station in Toledo, Ohio. It is now a repeater of KAWZ in Twin Falls, Idaho, the originator of a network of repeaters and mostly translators owned by CSN International. History WWYC signed on in 1946 as WTOD under the ownership of local labor rights attorney Edward Lamb. The station was notable at its launch for having been among the fastest radio stations to sign-on after being awarded a construction permit. WLQR (AM)
WLQR was a commercial radio station that was licensed to Toledo, Ohio at 1470 AM, and broadcast from 1954 to 2016. The station shut down when its license was turned in to the Federal Communications Commission for cancellation by owner Cumulus Media, due to the transmitter site in Oregon needing extensive repairs. The talk radio format offered on the station upon closure was subsequently transferred to a digital subchannel of co-owned WQQO. Christian Satellite Network (CSN) International is a Christian radio network based in Twin Falls, Idaho. KAWZ, 89.9 MHz, in Twin Falls is the uplink station, feeding 337 broadcast translators nationwide and 42 full-power radio stations across the United States, including Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands. CSN is a non-profit organization and operates non-profit stations. History KAWZ began broadcasting on April 3, 1988 (Easter Sunday), with Pastor Mike Kestler as its founder. The network was launched on April 26, 1995, broadcasting Christian radio over satellite from KAWZ in Twin Falls. The first satellite-fed translator to begin receiving the network from KAWZ was in Yucca Valley, California, and within six months the network had dozens of translators. CSN International is relayed by numerous low-powered translators nationwide. As a religious station, CSN International flagship KAWZ is allowed to place translators anywhere in the United States, regardless of distance from its parent station's coverage area. WKKO is a Commercial radio, commercial Frequency modulation, FM radio station in Toledo, Ohio broadcasting on 99.9 Megahertz, MHz with a country music format. It is owned by Cumulus Media. The station's studios are located in Toledo, and its transmitter is located in Harbor View, Ohio. History During the summer of 1981, WKLR ("Kooler Radio"), a longtime R&B/soul and later Disco music station, changed to its current country format known as K100. Joe Hill (now retired) of WHME/WHRI/WHRA/KWHR/KFLR was the first announcer when the station (then WKLR) went from 8,000 watts to 50,000 watts in the summer of 1982.
