WWCU
WWCU (95.3 FM) is a radio station owned by Western Carolina University and licensed to Dillsboro, North Carolina. The station plays a variety format. WWCU broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week from studios in the Old Student Union on the Western Carolina campus as Jackson County's only local FM radio station. Student staff members work in an academic environment with studios similar to those found in commercial stations. The main transmitter is located on Brown Mountain. WWCU airs mostly AC and country music from 2,000 to date. There are announcers on the station during regular rotation. There are also specialty shows during the evening and weekend hours. WZQS
WZQS is a radio station on 90.5 FM in Cullowhee, North Carolina, broadcasting to Jackson and Haywood counties in the western part of the state. It is owned by Blue Ridge Public Radio (BPR). It is part of the "BPR Classic" network, originating from WYQS (90.5) in Mars Hill and the second HD Radio channel of WCQS (88.1 FM) in Asheville. The 90.5 facility was acquired by Blue Ridge, effective February 1, 2021, from Western Carolina University, under which it had operated as WWCU from 1977 to 2021. Dillsboro, North Carolina
Dillsboro is a town in Jackson County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 232 at the 2010 census. Dillsboro attracts tourists traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains. The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad begins in Dillsboro and follows the Murphy Branch, constructed in the 1880s.
