Mathias, West Virginia
Mathias is an unincorporated community along the Lost River in Hardy County in the U.S. state of West Virginia. Mathias lies off West Virginia Route 259. Before the consolidated school of East Hardy High School at Baker, Mathias had its own educational facility, Mathias School, which served grades kindergarten through twelfth. Mathias has one bank (Summit Community Bank), one restaurant, a post office, a new garage, one community center, one gas station, as well as Lost River State Park. Baker Mountain is a mountain ridge in southeastern Hampshire County, West Virginia. The mountain runs southwest northeast between Yellow Spring and the Hardy County line. Francis Kotz Farm, also known as The Kotz Place, is a historic home located near Wardensville, Hardy County, West Virginia. The house was built about 1860, and is a two-story, four-room Greek Revival style brick house, with side gable roof. A two-story addition was built about 1875. The house sits on a stone foundation. Diamond Interchange
A diamond interchange is a common type of road junction, used where a controlled-access highway crosses a minor road. Design The freeway itself is grade-separated from the minor road, one crossing the other over a bridge. Approaching the interchange from either direction, an off-ramp diverges only slightly from the freeway and runs directly across the minor road, becoming an on-ramp that returns to the freeway in similar fashion. The two places where the ramps meet the road are treated as conventional intersections. Henry Funkhouser Farm and Log House is a historic home located at Baker, West Virginia, Baker, Hardy County, West Virginia. Lost River General Store, also known as Lost River Store House, is an historic general store located on the grounds of The Inn at Lost River at Lost River, Hardy County, West Virginia. It was built in 1898, and is a two-story, front gable, wood-frame building with a one-story front porch. The front section measures approximately 20 feet by 40 feet. The store building was renovated in the 1990s. From the early 1900s (decade) until 1979, the building also housed the Lost River Post Office.
