WTXL-TV (channel 27) is a television station in Tallahassee, Florida, United States, affiliated with ABC and owned by the E. W. Scripps Company. The station's studios are located on Commerce Boulevard in Midway, Florida, and its transmitter is located near unincorporated Fincher (in northwestern Jefferson County, Florida), along the Georgia state line. History The station debuted on September 16, 1976 as WECA-TV, owned by local businessman Evans Craig Allen. In the early years, its slogan was "We Can Do It!" which was a play on the call letters. The station was the second commercial station to sign-on in the market. Prior to channel 27's arrival, CBS affiliate WCTV had been the sole commercial outlet in the area and carried ABC in off-hours. WFSU-TV (channel 11) is a PBS member television station in Tallahassee, Florida, United States. It is owned by Florida State University alongside NPR members WFSU-FM (88.9) and WFSQ (91.5 FM). The three stations share studios at the Public Broadcast Center on the Florida State campus; WFSU-TV's transmitter is located near Bloxham, Florida. WFSG (channel 56) in Panama City operates as a full-time satellite of WFSU-TV; this station's transmitter is located near Ebro. State Road 61 (SR 61) is located in the Big Bend area of Florida, running through the state capital of Tallahassee. Throughout most of its length, SR 61 is the unsigned state route assigned to U.S. Route 319. Route description SR 61 begins at US 98 as an unsigned route, heading north on US 319, until it splits off with the highway in Crawfordville and becomes County Road 61. It turns east towards Shadeville Highway (former State Road 365), where afterwards, it runs north as Wakulla Springs Road. The main, signed portion of SR 61 begins at the Leon County line, where it continues north and eventually rejoins US 319 just south of Capital Circle.
