WSHP-FM
WSHP-FM (103.9 MHz, "His Radio Praise") is an FM radio station licensed to Easley, South Carolina and serving the Greenville radio market. Owned by Radio Training Network, it broadcasts a contemporary worship music radio format. History 103.9 FM signed on in 1964 as WELP-FM, mostly simulcasting sister station, WELP 1360 AM. By the early 1980s, WELP-FM's tower was moved to a new location and the station's power was increased from 2.3 kW to 3 kW in order to get a better signal into nearby Greenville. The station at the time was known as WTLT "Lite 104", airing a Soft Adult Contemporary format. Both WTLT and WELP-FM were sold to new ownership by 1987. In December of that year, WTLT changed to Urban Contemporary as WLWZ, adopting the "Z-104" nickname. Radio Training Network, Inc. is an American non-profit broadcasting organization that operates several networks of Christian radio- formatted stations, mostly in the Southeast. Owned by Radio Training Network, it broadcasts a contemporary Christian music format. Easley, South Carolina
Easley is a city in Pickens County (with parts extending into Anderson County) in the State of South Carolina. Most of the city lies in Pickens County, with a small portion of the city in Anderson County. In 2001, Easley hosted the Big League World Series for the first time, and continued to host the tournament annually until it was disbanded in 2016. In 2017, the Senior League World Series moved to Easley as the host for the annual tournament. The Pint Station opened in 2018 and continues to serve the greater Easley area today. WFXC (107.1 FM) and WFXK (104.3 FM) are a pair of simulcasting urban adult contemporary stations in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina market. WFXC is the main station, licensed to Durham, while WFXK is a full-power satellite licensed to Bunn. Urban Contemporary
Urban contemporary music, also known as urban music, hip hop, urban pop, or just simply urban, is a music radio format. The term was coined by New York radio DJ Frankie Crocker in the early to mid-1970s as a synonym for Black music. Adult contemporary music (AC) is a form of radio-played popular music, ranging from 1960s vocal and 1970s soft rock music to predominantly ballad-heavy music of the present day, with varying degrees of easy listening, pop, soul, R&B, quiet storm and rock influence. Adult contemporary is generally a continuation of the easy listening and soft rock style that became popular in the 1960s and 1970s with some adjustments that reflect the evolution of pop/rock music.
