WRU Division Three West
The Welsh Rugby Union Division Three West (also called the SWALEC Division Three West for sponsorship reasons) is a rugby union league in Wales. Competition format and sponsorship Competition There are 12 clubs in the WRU Division Three West. During the course of a season (which lasts from September to May) each club plays the others twice, once at their home ground and once at that of their opponents for a total of 22 games for each club, with a total of 132 games in each season. Teams receive four points for a win and two point for a draw, an additional bonus point is awarded to either team if they score four tries or more in a single match. No points are awarded for a loss though the losing team can gain a bonus point for finishing the match within seven points of the winning team. Teams are ranked by total points, then the number of tries scored and then points difference. At the end of each season, the club with the most points is crowned as champion. Pembroke Dock Harlequins Rugby Football Club is a Welsh rugby union team based in Pembroke Dock. The club is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) and is a feeder club for the Llanelli Scarlets. They are known locally as simply the 'Quins'. The team was founded in 1880, a year before the creation of the WRU and the formation of the Wales national team. The club joined the Welsh Rugby Union in 1896, making the club one of the earliest teams from the region to gain membership. The clubs records from 1923 to 1999 are presently held by the historical society, Archive Wales. Homeground Pembroke Dock play all their home games at the Bierspool Ground located on London Road where they have been located since 1956. Clwb Rygbi Cwmgors ( en, Cwmgors RFC) is a rugby union club that represents the villages of Cwmgors, Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen and Tairgwaith, South West Wales. Cwmgors RFC is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union and is a feeder club for the Ospreys. Curwen Stars Although Cwmgors RFC did not come into existence until 1927 rugby had been played in the town from 1895. A team called the All Blacks was formed in the town in 1895, this team would later change its name to the Curwen Stars. The Curwen Stars joined the Llanelli and District Rugby Union in 1900, and eventually joined the Welsh Rugby Union in 1913. In 1923 a second team formed in the village, made up from members of the Cwmgors Colliery called the 'Mond' team, named after the owner of the colliery Alfred Mond. The 'Mond' boasts future Welsh captain Claude Davey as one of its players. In 1927 both the Curwen Stars and the Mond disbanded and severed all union connections. Ammanford Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team from the town of Ammanford, West Wales. The club is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union and is a feeder club for the Llanelli Scarlets. History Ammanford RFC's first officially recorded rugby match came in 1887 against a team from Mynyddbach, Swansea. The game was played at Ynys field opposite the River Amman and their initial clubhouse was the Cross Inn Hotel at Ammanford Square. Ammanford's first official strip colours were amber and black, then switching colours twice before the club settled on black and blue in 1912. In 1889, Ammanford RFC produced their first international player in Percy Lloyd. Lloyd played four international matches between 1889 and 1890 for Wales, against Scotland, Ireland and England twice. Amman United RFC
Amman United Rugby Football Club () is a Welsh rugby union team from the Amman valley north of Swansea. The club plays at Cwmamman Recreation Ground between Garnant and Glanamman; before the coal-mining boom the two towns were a single village called Cwmamman. The club is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union and is a feeder club for the Scarlets regional team. Amman United has supplied several players to the Wales rugby union team including Claude Davey and Tom Day and in Trevor Evans, one member of the British and Irish Lions. Amman United came second in the WRU Division Four West and were promoted in 2012; by the end of the year they were leading WRU Division Three West.
