WRJE (1600 AM) was a radio station licensed to the Dover, Delaware metropolitan area. It first began broadcasting in 1957 under the call sign WKEN. The license was cancelled by the FCC on January 13, 2016 due to the station owner's failure to provide information required by said agency. History The station went on the air August 2, 1957 as WKEN. It became WQVL on February 23, 1997, and was renamed WAMS on January 31, 2001. The station was unrelated to WTMC (1380 AM), a radio station in Wilmington which used the WAMS call sign from 1947 to 2000. The call sign was briefly changed to WNRK on March 26, 2002, then reverted to WKEN less than two months later. On July 21, 2002, the call sign was changed to WIBF to match its FM sister station in New Jersey (88.7 FM, now WEHA), which it had been simulcasting. Dover () is the capital and second-largest city of the U.S. state of Delaware. WEHA (88.7 FM) is a Stellar Award winning radio station broadcasting an Urban Gospel format. Licensed to the suburb of Port Republic, New Jersey, it serves the Atlantic City metropolitan area. It first began broadcasting in 2003 under the call sign WIBF. WTMC
WTMC (1380 AM) is a non-commercial radio station. It also broadcasts on FM translator station W253CQ at 98.5 MHz. WTMC serves as a traffic advisory station, a service of the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) broadcasting in Wilmington, Delaware. There are signs posted around the Wilmington area advising motorists to tune to this station for traffic advisories. One such sign exists on U.S. Route 202 upon entry into Delaware from Pennsylvania. The service was started in 2000, when DelDOT purchased the license. WTMC is licensed as a conventional broadcasting station, not a travelers' information station, although the state has added synchronized repeater stations downstate on AM 1380 which are HAR/TIS stations, to extend the station's coverage.
