WRDQ (channel 27) is an independent television station in Orlando, Florida, United States. It is owned Cox Media Group alongside ABC affiliate WFTV (channel 9). Both stations share studios on East South Street in downtown Orlando, while WRDQ's transmitter is located near Christmas, Florida. History The station's original construction permit was issued as early as 1990. Channel 27 first signed on the air on April 23, 2000, under the ownership of Reece Associates Ltd., with WFTV (which has been owned by Cox since 1985) operating the station under a local marketing agreement (LMA); Reece was co-owned by former WFTV reporter/anchor Marsha Reece. WFTV (channel 9) is a television station in Orlando, Florida, United States, affiliated with ABC. It is owned by Cox Media Group alongside independent station WRDQ (channel 27). Both stations share studios on East South Street (SR 15) in downtown Orlando, while WFTV's transmitter is located near Christmas, Florida. The station's signal is relayed through a UHF digital translator on channel 19 in Deltona (transmitting from WNUE-FM's tower). History The station first signed on the air on February 1, 1958, under the callsign WLOF-TV (standing for "We Love Orlando, Florida"). It has been an ABC affiliate since the station's inception. 2016 Orlando City SC Season
The 2016 Orlando City SC season was the club's sixth season of existence in Orlando, and second season in Major League Soccer, the top-flight league in the United States soccer league system. Background On July 15, 2015, Orlando City opened an additional 4,000 seats for sale to potential season ticket holders, bringing the total available season tickets to 18,000. The extra allotment sold out on August 18, 2015. Season tickets are again sold out for the 2016 season. On October 15, 2015, Orlando City announced that they would field an owned-and-operated team in the United Soccer League, Orlando City B. The team began play in the 2016 season at Eastern Florida State College's Melbourne campus. WTMO-CD (channel 31) is a low-power, Class A television station in Orlando, Florida, United States, broadcasting the Spanish-language Telemundo network. Owned and operated by NBCUniversal's Telemundo Station Group, the station has studios at the intersection of Sand Lake Road and Orange Blossom Trail in unincorporated Orange County (using an Orlando mailing address), and its transmitter is located on Lake Sparling Road in Pine Hills. Local Marketing Agreement
In North American broadcasting, a local marketing agreement (LMA), or local management agreement, is a contract in which one company agrees to operate a radio or television station owned by another party. In essence, it is a sort of lease or time-buy. Under Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations, a local marketing agreement must give the company operating the station (the "senior" partner) under the agreement control over the entire facilities of the station, including the finances, personnel and programming of the station. Its original licensee (the "junior" partner) still remains legally responsible for the station and its operations, such as compliance with relevant regulations regarding content.
