WQKL (107.1 FM), known on the air as ann arbor's 107one, is a commercial radio station in Ann Arbor, Michigan. WQKL is owned by Cumulus Media, airing an adult album alternative/alternative rock radio format. WQKL has its studios at the south area of Ann Arbor near Briarwood Mall, and broadcasts its signal from a 3,000 watt transmitter atop Tower Plaza in the city’s downtown. Despite its low power, it can be heard in many of the western Detroit suburbs as a result of its transmitter being 289 feet tall and located on the roof of Ann Arbor’s tallest building. WLBY
WLBY (1290 AM) is a broadcast radio station in the United States. Licensed to Saline, Michigan, with offices in nearby Ann Arbor, the station has a talk format and serves surrounding Washtenaw County. WLBY is owned by Cumulus Broadcasting along with three other stations based in Ann Arbor. The station first signed on in 1958 as WOIA and had music formats for much of its history, as late as the 2000s. Tower Plaza (Ann Arbor, Michigan)
Tower Plaza is the tallest building in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is located at 555 East William Street. The high-rise was first proposed in 1965, then constructed in 1969. It stands at 26 stories. The antenna stands at 292 feet tall and the roof is tall. It was designed in the international style of architecture, primarily using concrete and glass. WTKA (1050 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Ann Arbor, Michigan, known as "The Ticket." It broadcasts a sports radio format and is owned by Cumulus Media. The studios and offices are on Victors Way in Ann Arbor. By day, WTKA is powered at 5,000 watts, covering most of southeast Michigan. But 1050 AM is a Mexican clear channel frequency reserved for XEG in Monterrey. So at night, to avoid interference, WTKA reduces power to 500 watts. Thomas Stephen Monaghan (born March 25, 1937) is an American entrepreneur who founded Domino's Pizza in 1960. He owned the Detroit Tigers from 1983 to 1992. Monaghan also owns the Domino's Farms Office Park, located in the Ann Arbor Charter Township, Michigan, which he first started building during 1984. Easy listening (including mood music) is a popular music genre and radio format that was most popular during the 1950s to 1970s. It is related to middle-of-the-road (MOR) music and encompasses instrumental recordings of standards, hit songs, non-rock vocals and instrumental covers of selected popular rock songs. It mostly concentrates on music that pre-dates the rock and roll era, characteristically on music from the 1940s and 1950s.
