Contemporary Christian Music
Contemporary Christian music, also known as CCM, Christian pop, and occasionally inspirational music is a genre of modern popular music, and an aspect of Christian media, which is lyrically focused on matters related to the Christian faith and stylistically rooted in Christian music. It was formed by those affected by the 1960s Jesus movement revival who began to express themselves in other styles of popular music, beyond the church music of hymns, gospel and Southern gospel music that was prevalent in the church at the time. Robert Vaughn Herdman (born March 8, 1966) is a Christian musician, songwriter and producer more known for being a member of the band Audio Adrenaline. Life and career Herdman grew up in Lynchburg, a rural town in the southwest part of Ohio. At 17 Herdman joined the elite Army Rangers. During his time in the Rangers Herdman had several parachuting accidents which resulted in minor injuries and broken bones. He was also involved in a helicopter crash that resulted in no injuries. After completing Ranger School, Special forces Combat Diver School and other specialty schools, Herdman decided to end his time in the military after four years. After leaving the Army, Herdman attended Kentucky Christian College where he majored in Math and Science. KCC is also the place where Herdman met the members of the band Audio Adrenaline, then called A-180. Stacie Joy Orrico (born March 3, 1986) is an American singer, songwriter and occasional actress. After signing to ForeFront Records, Orrico recorded her first album, '' Genuine'' (2000), which sold 13,000 units in its first week of release. ''The Way I Am'' is the third studio album from folk rock musician Jennifer Knapp, her fifth album overall and her final Christian rock album to date. It was released on November 20, 2001 through Gotee Records. Critical reception Ashleigh Kittle of AllMusic concludes her review by writing, "In the end, with this release Knapp has yet to disappoint. She only serves to build and further shape the gift and talent demonstrated on her debut release, Kansas." Mike Rimmer of ''Cross Rhythms'' gives this album 10 out of a possible 10 and remarks, "this is definitely a grower not a grabber and it took a number of listens before its intricate wonders revealed themselves to me!" Jennifer Lynn Knapp (born April 12, 1974) is an American-Australian folk rock, and contemporary Christian musician. She is best known for her first single "Undo Me" from her debut album, ''Kansas'' (1998), and the song "A Little More" from her Grammy Award-nominated album, '' Lay It Down'' (2000). '' The Way I Am'' (2001), was also nominated for a Grammy. In total, the three albums have sold approximately 1 million copies. After taking a seven-year hiatus, Knapp announced in September 2009 that she was returning to music. On May 11, 2010 she released ''Letting Go'' with the single "Dive In". Kennedy William Gordy (born March 15, 1964), better known by his stage name Rockwell, is an American singer. He is most well known for his hit 1984 single "Somebody's Watching Me" which features Michael Jackson on the chorus vocals. He is the son of Motown founder Berry Gordy. Other relatives include singers Redfoo, Rhonda Ross Kendrick, and Sky Blu; they are his half-siblings and half-nephew, respectively. ZOEgirl was an American Christian teen pop and pop rock band formed in 1999. The group comprised Chrissy Conway-Katina, Alisa Childers and Kristin Swinford-Schweain. They were signed to Sparrow Records from 1999 to 2006 and released their debut single "I Believe" in 2000. This song and their self-titled debut album ''ZOEgirl'' helped them become Sparrow's fastest selling artist of all time.
