WMVR-FM (105.5 MHz, "Hits 105.5") is a commercial radio station licensed to Sidney, Ohio, broadcasting a hot adult contemporary music format. Its studios, offices, and transmitter are located on Russell Road, just outside Sidney. History On January 8, 1964, the Federal Communications Commission granted the Van Wert Broadcasting Company—owner of WMVR (1080 AM), which signed on November 21, 1963—a construction permit for an FM station on 105.5 MHz. The station signed on in 1965; it simulcast and continued the programming of the AM station, a daytime-only outlet. In 1966, WMVR-AM-FM was purchased by the Dean Miller Broadcasting Corporation, owned by Dean Miller, an actor and Ohio native. Before coming to Sidney, Miller had been a television personality and actor in Hollywood. WMVR (AM)
WMVR was a radio station broadcasting at 1080 AM in Sidney, Ohio, United States. It operated from 1963 to 2001. History WMVR began broadcasting November 21, 1963. It was owned and operated by the Van Wert Broadcasting Corporation, owners of station WERT in Van Wert. Prior to WMVR's establishment, the only other two radio stations serving the upper Miami Valley were WPTW in Piqua, which to that point had operated an auxiliary studio in the Ohio Building, and WOHP at Bellefontaine. The original studios and offices were located on the second floor of the Taylor Building at the corner of Main Avenue and Poplar Street in downtown Sidney, while its transmitter and three towers were erected near the intersection of Russell and Kuther roads. Sidney is a city in Shelby County, Ohio, located approximately 36 mi (58 km) north of Dayton and 100 mi (161 km) south of Toledo. The population was 20,421 at the time of the 2020 census. WCMH-TV (channel 4) is a television station in Columbus, Ohio, United States, affiliated with NBC and owned by Nexstar Media Group. The station's studios are located on Olentangy River Road near the Ohio State University campus, and its transmitter is located on Twin Rivers Drive, west of downtown Columbus. A panel of three celebrities tried to guess the identity of mystery guests from clues supplied by the host. Bill Leyden was the MC of the program, with Dennis James as a regular panelist or alternating host. Filmed in Burbank, California, ''Your First Impression'' was a Monty Hall-Art Stark Production. Hall was the series executive producer. The program aired at Noon Eastern time and followed another game, ''Concentration'', then hosted by Hugh Downs. Helen O'Connell
Helen O'Connell (May 23, 1920 – September 9, 1993) was an American singer, actress, and hostess, described as "the quintessential big band singer of the 1940s". Early life Born in Lima, Ohio, O'Connell grew up in Toledo, Ohio. By the time she was 15, she and her older sister, Alice, were singing duets in clubs and hotels and on radio stations in Toledo. Career O'Connell launched her career as a big-band singer with Larry Funk and his Band of a Thousand Melodies. She was singing with Funk's band in Greenwich Village when Jimmy Dorsey's manager discovered her. O'Connell joined the Dorsey band in 1939 and achieved her best selling records in the early 1940s with " Green Eyes", " Amapola," "Tangerine" and " Yours".
