WMVI (106.7 FM) is a Class A radio station licensed to Mount Vernon, Indiana, serving the Posey County, Indiana market. The format became ESPN Radio on January 1, 2007. The station is owned by The Original Company, based in Vincennes, Indiana. It used to air Indiana Pacers basketball, Indianapolis Colts football, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball, as well as Indiana University football and basketball. The station now only has affiliations with Indiana University men's football and basketball. The primary sports coverage is now Mount Vernon Wildcats Athletics including football and boys varsity basketball. Mount Vernon is a city in and the county seat of Posey County, Indiana, United States. Located in the state's far southwestern corner, within of both the southernmost or westernmost points, it is the westernmost city in the state. The southernmost is Rockport, located along the Ohio River about to the southeast. The population was 6,687 at the 2010 census. Classic hits is a radio format which generally includes songs from the top 40 music charts from the late 1960s to the early 2000s, with music from the 1980s serving as the core of the format. Music that was popularized by MTV in the early 1980s and the nostalgia behind it is a major driver to the format. It is considered the successor to the oldies format, a collection of top 40 songs from the late 1950s through the late 1970s that was once extremely popular in the United States and Canada. WYNG is a radio station licensed to Mount Carmel, Illinois and serving the Evansville, Indiana market at 94.9 FM. The current format is Educational Media Foundation's Christian contemporary K-Love. History WYNG acquired the 94.9 frequency in 2003 when the Regent Broadcasting changed frequencies and adopted a Country format. After stations WBKR and WKDQ were acquired from Clear Channel Communications by Regent Broadcasting, Regent decided to change WYNG's programming to an all Sports format – primarily using ESPN Radio syndicated programming. Real Country is a 24-hour radio format produced by Westwood One. Real Country is marketed at the demographic of men aged 35 to 64. Its programming consists of a fairly broad playlist of "Today's Stars and the Legends." Classic country is the station's primary core, with frequent airplay of artists such as George Jones and Johnny Cash, while the station also plays newer hits, particularly by established neotraditional country artists such as George Strait and Alan Jackson.
