WMG Academy for Young Engineers is a University Technical College in the Canley area of Coventry, England. The college opened in 2014 on a site adjacent to The Westwood Academy. A university technical college (UTC) is a type of specialist secondary school in England that is led by a sponsor university and has close ties to local business and industry. These university and industry partners support the curriculum development of the UTC, can provide professional development opportunities for teachers, and guide suitably qualified students on to industrial apprenticeships or tertiary education. Key Stage 5
Key Stage 5 is a label used to describe the two years of education for students aged 16–18, or at sixth form, in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, aligning with previous Key Stages as labelled for the National Curriculum. John Leighfield
John Percival Leighfield (born 1938) is a British IT industry businessman and was previously chairman of RM plc from 1993 until 2011. Currently John Leighfield is a Director of Getmapping, a UK supplier of aerial photography, mapping products and data hosting solutions. The Westwood Academy
The Westwood Academy (formerly The Westwood School) is an academy school for children aged 11 – 18 in Canley, Coventry, England. With its sports centre completed in July 2008. History In 2008, The Westwood School converted to 'Trust' school status with the Local Authority, Warwick University, Coventry Sports Foundation and a local ICT company. The school gained The BECTA ICT Mark in recognition of its use of ICT in teaching and learning (the only school in Coventry to have gained this award).
