WLXK (88.3 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Contemporary Christian format airs the K-LOVE programming format from Rocklin, California. Previously, it simulcasted WRCM in Wingate, North Carolina when it was owned by Columbia International University. Licensed to Boiling Springs, North Carolina, United States, the station is currently owned by the Educational Media Foundation. Gardner–Webb University radio station WGWG signed on in 1974 with beautiful music and "The Afternoon Rock Show". The signal increased to 50,000 watts in 1994. Streaming began in 1998. WRCM (91.9 MHz) is a listener-supported, non-commercial FM radio station licensed to Wingate, North Carolina and serving the Charlotte metropolitan area. It airs a Contemporary Christian radio format and identifies itself as " K-LOVE". It is owned by the Educational Media Foundation, based in Rocklin, California, a non-profit ministry. Some listeners can also hear K-LOVE on 94.1 WWLV in Lexington, North Carolina or on 88.3 WLXK in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. History Columbia International University, then known as Columbia Bible College, applied to the FCC for the license in 1982. Internally, this was known as The 92 FM Project. Other entities applied on top of CBC including Wingate College (now Wingate University) and a church in Waxhaw, North Carolina area. Boiling Springs, North Carolina
Boiling Springs is a town in Cleveland County, North Carolina, United States and is located in the westernmost part of the Charlotte metropolitan area, located approximately 50 miles away from the city. As of the 2010 census, the town's population was 4,647. It is home to Gardner–Webb University. The town is named after the natural spring found on the university's property, which feeds a small lake. History People began settling the area around the namesake boiling springs in 1843. The first families to settle were the Hamricks, the Greenes and the McSwains. Gardner–Webb University (Gardner–Webb, GWU, or GW) is a private Baptist university in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. It is affiliated with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina (Southern Baptist Convention). It was founded as Boiling Springs High School in 1905. Great Is Thy Faithfulness is a popular Christian hymn written by Thomas Chisholm (songwriter), Thomas Chisholm (1866–1960) with music composed by William M. Runyan (1870–1957) in Baldwin City, Kansas, U.S. The phrase "great is thy faithfulness" comes from the Old Testament Book of Lamentations 3:23. These exact words occur in both the King James Bible and the Revised Standard Version. History Thomas O. Chisholm wrote the poem in 1923 about God's faithfulness over his lifetime. Chisholm sent the song to William Runyan in Kansas, who was affiliated with both the Moody Bible Institute and Hope Publishing Company.
