WJTW (1480 AM) is a radio station licensed to serve Bridgeport, Alabama, United States. The station is owned by Marshall M. Bandy, through licensee Bridgeport, Inc. History On April 15, 1998, longtime-owner of Bridgeport Broadcasting Company, the licensee for this station, then known as WBTS, Roy C. McCloud died. In June 1998, control of the company passed involuntarily to Remal J. McCloud and Darren W. McCloud, the joint executors of his estate. The Federal Communications Commission approved the transfer on July 9, 1998, and the transaction was formally consummated on August 10, 1998. Later that year in Atlanta, Georgia, they used the WBTS callsign until August 2010. In July 1998, KEA Radio Inc. (Ronald H. Livengood, president) reached an agreement to acquire WBTS from Remal J. WFLI (1070 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station broadcasting an oldies radio format. Licensed to Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, the station serves the Chattanooga metropolitan area. WFLI is owned by Tri-State Radio, Inc. By day, WFLI broadcasts at 50,000 watts, the maximum for commercial AM stations in the U.S. But 1070 AM is a clear channel frequency reserved for KNX Los Angeles. So WFLI must reduce power at night to 2,500 watts to avoid interference. It uses a directional antenna at all times. Programming is also heard on 250 watt FM translator W241AF at 96.1 MHz. (which formerly carried WUSY-HD2) in addition to a second translator for coverage in areas located north of downtown Chattanooga, W262DQ at 100.3 MHz. Bridgeport is a city in Jackson County, Alabama, Jackson County, Alabama, United States. At the time of 2010 census the population was 2,418, down from 2,728 in 2000. Bridgeport is included in the Chattanooga-Cleveland-Dalton, TN-GA-AL Combined Statistical Area. History Bridgeport developed after the 1840s, when European Americans established a riverboat landing (water transport), landing here along the Tennessee River. Scottsboro, Alabama
Scottsboro is a city in and the county seat of Jackson County, Alabama, United States. The city was named for its founder Robert T. Scott. As of the 2010 census, the population of the city is 14,770. From its incorporation in 1870 until 1890, it was the largest community in Jackson County, losing the distinction from 1900 to 1920 to Bridgeport, but reclaiming the title in 1930 and holding it since that time. WKEA-FM broadcasts a country music format including programming from Jones Radio Network and Fox News Radio. History Radio station WCNA-FM was founded in 1965 by Dr. Ralph Sheppard, a local dentist and owner of the ''Jackson County Advertiser'', a weekly newspaper. The first FM radio station in Jackson County, Alabama, WCNA-FM began broadcasting a country music format on November 3, 1965. In 1971, Sheppard transferred the license to a company named Mellow Sound Broadcasting.
