WKUW-LD (channel 40) is a low-power television station licensed to White House, Tennessee, United States, serving the Nashville television market. Owned by HC2 Holdings, it is a sister station to Bowling Green, Kentucky–licensed WCTZ-LD (channel 35), which also serves Nashville. WKUW-LD's transmitter is located in Whites Creek, Tennessee, just off I-24 and Old Hickory Boulevard. History As a TBN translator in Bowling Green Originally licensed to Bowling Green, the station began broadcasting on October 17, 2002, as a TBN owned-and-operated translator station, under the call sign W60DC, and was relaying network programming from TBN flagship KTBN-TV of Santa Ana, California. Weigel Broadcasting Co. is an American television broadcasting company based in Chicago, Illinois, alongside its flagship station WCIU-TV (Channel 26), at 26 North Halsted Street in the Greektown neighborhood. It currently owns 25 television stations, seven digital over-the-air television networks (most notably MeTV), and one radio station. The digital transition in the United States was the switchover from analog to exclusively digital broadcasting of terrestrial television programming. According to David Rehr, then president and CEO of the National Association of Broadcasters, this transition represented "the most significant advancement of television technology since color TV was introduced." For full-power TV stations, the transition went into effect on June 12, 2009, with stations ending regular programming on their analog signals no later than 11:59 p.m. local time that day. In the broadcasting industry, an owned-and-operated station (frequently abbreviated as an O&O) usually refers to a television or radio station owned by the network with which it is associated. This distinguishes such a station from an affiliate, which is independently owned and carries network programming by contract. The concept of an O&O is clearly defined in the United States and Canada (and to some extent, several other countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Japan), where network-owned stations had historically been the exception rather than the rule. Whites Creek is an unincorporated community located near Nashville in the northern part of Davidson County, Tennessee. The community and nearby creek which travels north to south along US 431 were named after an early settler named White who was killed by hostile American Indians prior to the settlement of Fort Nashboro in 1778. The Whites Creek area has its own US Post Office, with the ZIP Code 37189. UT Martin Skyhawks Football
The UT Martin Skyhawks football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the University of Tennessee at Martin in Martin, Tennessee. The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and are members of the Ohio Valley Conference. The school's first football team was fielded in 1925, while known as Hall-Moody Junior College (later changing it to University of Tennessee Junior College in 1927, which they kept until 1950).
