WIWA (AM)
WIWA (1270 AM broadcasting, AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Christian talk and teaching format. Licensed to Eatonville, Florida, United States, it serves the Orlando Metropolitan Area, Orlando area. The station is owned by Marc Radio Orlando, LLC. History The station signed on the air as WHIY in 1957 using the slogan "Radio Hi Fi". In 1962, it transitioned to a country music format. In 1978, the station switched callsigns to WORL and adopted an adult contemporary music format, save for a brief period in 1979 with a Disco format as “Studio 13” before returning to AC the same year. By 1986, WORL 1270 was known as "Power Hits ORL". In 1987, the station dropped AC for R&B. In late 1988, with FM on the rise the station dropped music altogether and began a business news format as WBZS. This lasted about one year before a switch to Spanish language programming. Eatonville, Florida
Eatonville is a town in Orange County, Florida, United States, six miles north of Orlando. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee metropolitan statistical area. Incorporated on August 15, 1887, it was one of the first self-governing all-black municipalities in the United States. The Eatonville Historic District and Moseley House Museum are in Eatonville. Author Zora Neale Hurston grew up in Eatonville and the area features in many of her stories. In 1990 the town founded the Zora Neale Hurston Museum of Fine Arts. Every winter the town stages the Zora Neale Hurston Festival of the Arts and Humanities. A library named for her opened in January 2004. The population was 2,159 at the 2010 census. The majority are African American. Artist Jules Andre Smith has done a series of paintings depicting life in Eatonville during the 1930s and 1940s. AM broadcasting is radio broadcasting using amplitude modulation (AM) transmissions. It was the first method developed for making audio radio transmissions, and is still used worldwide, primarily for medium wave (also known as "AM band") transmissions, but also on the longwave and shortwave radio bands. Adult contemporary music (AC) is a form of radio-played popular music, ranging from 1960s vocal and 1970s soft rock music to predominantly ballad-heavy music of the present day, with varying degrees of easy listening, pop, soul, R&B, quiet storm and rock influence. WRZN (720 kHz) is an AM radio station broadcasting a Christian radio teaching format for the Gainesville-Ocala, Florida media market. Licensed to Hernando, Florida, USA, the station broadcasts from a three tower directional antenna array located off State Highway 200, just north of Hernando. It is owned by MARC Radio Gainesville, LLC. Its studios are in a single wide mobile home located next to the transmitter towers on North Roscoe Road. Programming is also simulcast on 1430 WTMN in Gainesville. The stations call themselves "The Shepherd". WRZN broadcasts at 10,000 watts by day with a non-directional antenna. During daytime operation, the station can be heard in Ocala, Gainesville, and Tampa.
