Bob Witz (August 9, 1934 - February 23, 2021) was an American artist, poet and writer. He was born in Tomah, Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1959. He was founder and editor of the literary arts magazine, APPEARANCES. Chaim Witz
Gene Simmons (born Chaim Witz; he, חיים ויץ, ; born August 25, 1949) is an Israeli-American musician. Also known by his stage persona The Demon, he is the bassist and co-lead singer of Kiss, the hard rock band he co-founded with Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss in the early 1970s. Simmons was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 as a member of Kiss. Early life Simmons was born as Chaim Witz on August 25, 1949, at Rambam Hospital in Haifa, Israel, to Jewish immigrants from Hungary. His mother, Florence Klein (1925–2018) (née Flóra Kovács), was born in Jánd and survived internment in Nazi concentration camps. She and her brother, Larry Klein, were the only members of the family to survive the Holocaust. Simmons' father, Ferenc "Feri" Yehiel Witz (1925–2002), was a carpenter. Dan Witz (born 1957) is a Brooklyn, NY based street artist and realist painter. He grew up in Chicago, IL, and graduated in 1981 from Cooper Union, on New York City's Lower East Side. Witz, consistently active since the late 1970s, is one of the pioneers of the street art movement. Dan Witz's paintings have been shown in galleries throughout the US and Europe. In June 2010 a monograph, "Dan Witz. In Plain View. 30 Years of Artworks Illegal and Otherwise", was published by Ginkgo press. Emanuel Witz (27 June 1717 – 11 December 1797) was a Swiss painter, born in Biel. Witz was inspired by his brother (a sculptor) to apply himself to drawing. He subsequently received drawing lessons from Robert Huber in Bern. In 1738, he moved to Paris where he continued his education under instructions of the painter Louis Galloche. He made friends with Edmé Bouchardon, François Boucher, Pierre-Jacques Cazes, Charles Joseph Natoire and Charles André van Loo. Afterwards he worked in Spain and Portugal as a portrait painter, historical painter and genre painter. Sergio Witz Rodríguez (born 1962 in Campeche, Campeche) is a Mexican poet. His literary work has been recognized by Mexico's National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA), a government agency that promotes the arts and culture by funding promising talents. Witz was the winner of the 1994 Tabasco Poetry Prize. He is the author of "Como hierba ardiente," "Ciudad de paso" and "Mi odio por los barcos." The opinion has been expressed that his writing follows the tradition of the "poètes maudits" such as Charles Baudelaire in France and Charles Bukowski in the United States. In 2002, he published a brief poem titled "La patria entre mierda" ("The Motherland among the Shit"), in which he expressed a desire to use the flag of Mexico as lavatory paper. Witz is a novel by Joshua Cohen. Plot summary In ''Witz'', Joshua Cohen calls all religious Jews "Affiliated". After the sabbath meal a week before Christmas, Benjamin is born to Israel and Hanna Israelien in Joysey, the first son after 12 girls. Kwik Witz is an American syndicated comedy program which aired in syndication, mainly on numerous NBC affiliate stations—usually in the time-slot following ''Saturday Night Live''.
