''Wine & Spirit'' was a British monthly magazine on wine, spirits, beers and cocktails, directed at both consumers and the drinks industry. The magazine also organized the annual " International Wine Challenge" and " International Spirits Challenge", and published the annual results book, the ''World's Best Wines Guide''. ''Wine & Spirit'' was viewed as a competitor of '' Decanter'', described by Jancis Robinson as "Britain's second consumer wine magazine", though livelier. William Reed is a digital, high value data and events business serving the food and drinks sector. In 2021, it had offices in five locations - in Crawley, London, Montpellier, Singapore and Chicago. Early history In 1862, William Reed founded his own publishing company, ''William Reed Publishing'' in London. With the contacts he had made working in the grocer industry and the knowledge he had gained, he launched his first journal, ''The Grocer'', from his premises based in Bow Lane, London. Robert Joseph (wine)
Robert Joseph is a British wine expert, consultant, producer. In 1984, with Charles Metcalfe, he launched the magazine ''Wine International'' and the London International Wine Challenge. Joseph also launched International Wine Challenges in Asia (China, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, India) and Russia. He resigned as chairman of the International Wine Challenge in January 2006. Biography Joseph was the wine correspondent of the ''Sunday Telegraph'' for sixteen years, until 2001, and is the author of more than 28 books, twice winning the Glenfiddich award for wine writing. Jancis Mary Robinson OBE, ComMA, MW (born 22 April 1950) is a British wine critic, journalist and wine writer. She currently writes a weekly column for the ''Financial Times'', and writes for her website JancisRobinson.com, updated daily. She provided advice for the wine cellar of Queen Elizabeth II. Early life and education Robinson was born in Carlisle, Cumbria, studied mathematics and philosophy at St Anne's College, University of Oxford, and worked for a travel company after leaving university; according to her website, she worked in marketing for Thomson Holidays.
