WGGS
WGGS-TV (channel 16) is a religious independent television station licensed to Greenville, South Carolina, United States, serving Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina. Owned by Carolina Christian Broadcasting, it is sister to Hendersonville, North Carolina–licensed low-power GEB America affiliate WDKT-LD (channel 31). Both stations share studios on Rutherford Road in Taylors, South Carolina, while WGGS-TV's transmitter is located at Paris Mountain State Park (just outside Greenville). History The station first signed on the air on October 29, 1972. It is the oldest independent station in the state of South Carolina, and was also the first new commercial station to sign on in the Greenville–Spartanburg–Asheville market since CBS affiliate WSPA-TV (channel 7) signed on in April 1956. The Walk TV (stylized as the WALK TV) is an American Christian specialty television network in the United States. The network consists primarily of 263 low-powered television stations across the United States, and is also available on C-band free-to-air satellite services. Upstate South Carolina
The Upstate is the region in the westernmost part of South Carolina, United States, also known as the Upcountry, which is the historical term. Although loosely defined among locals, the general definition includes the 10 counties of the commerce-rich I-85 corridor in the northwest corner of South Carolina. This definition coincided with the Greenville–Spartanburg–Anderson, SC combined statistical area, as first defined by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in 2015. GEB Network (formerly known as Golden Eagle Broadcasting) is a digital satellite television network, which airs primarily Christian and family programming. Oral Roberts founded it in 1996. GEB is owned by Oral Roberts University and is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. History On January 24, 1996, KWMJ TV 53 Tulsa began airing with 24-hour programming. Paris Mountain State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of South Carolina, located five miles (8 km) north of Greenville.
