WFTV Awards
The Women in Film and Television UK or WFTV Awards are presented in an annual award programme hosted by the Women in Film and Television (UK) to the most talented women in UK film, TV and digital media. Annual ceremony The ceremony previously took place in December at London's Park Lane Hilton Hotel. Awards categories (competitive) Each year nominations are being accepted in thirteen categories in total covering all areas of the industry including directing, business, performance, project management and producing. Once the nomination window closes, independent juries of esteemed people within the film and TV industry will decide on the winners in each category. WFTV UK
WFTV (channel 9) is a television station in Orlando, Florida, United States, affiliated with American Broadcasting Company, ABC. It is owned by Cox Media Group alongside Independent station (North America), independent station WRDQ (channel 27). Both stations share studios on East South Street (Florida State Road 15, SR 15) in downtown Orlando, while WFTV's transmitter is located near Christmas, Florida. The station's signal is relayed through a UHF digital broadcast relay station#Broadcast translators, translator on channel 19 in Deltona, Florida, Deltona (transmitting from WNUE-FM's tower). History The station first signed on the air on February 1, 1958, under the callsign WLOF-TV (standing for "We Love Orlando, Florida"). It has been an ABC affiliate since the station's inception. Jo Ho
Jo Ho is a British-Chinese screenwriter, director and author, best known for creating the BBC series '' Spirit Warriors''. She has been credited as the first East Asian person in the UK to have successfully created an original television drama series. '' Spirit Warriors'' is also the UK's first TV drama series to star a predominantly East Asian cast. Early life Ho was born in Dagenham in London, and studied Mixed Media Arts at the University of Westminster. Career Ho taught herself screenwriting by studying ''The West Wing'' and ''Buffy the Vampire Slayer''. She went on to work as a production manager on several projects, before writing and directing her first short film ''Isolation 9'' in 2006. The film won the Audience Festival award at the Buffalo-san Short Film Festival. Sally El-Hosaini ( ar, سالى الحسينى ) is a Welsh-Egyptian film director and screenwriter. Barbara Slater (sports Producer)
Barbara Jane Slater OBE (born 10 May 1959) is an English sports producer and former gymnast who represented Great Britain at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, where she carried the British flag at the Opening Ceremonies. Slater became the BBC's first female Director of Sport in April 2009. Previous to this, she had been the BBC's Head of Production and Head of General Sports for a number of years.
